“Let’s face it, most don’t care about PCTs, competition within health care and all that rubbish. All they want is to be made better as quickly and painlessly as possible. Even the cost becomes secondary when you’re poorly.”

Mmmm – all that rubbish! Well, if “all that rubbish” contributes to the improvement or degradation of the NHS I would imagine it is worth caring about..

Not when you’re sick it isn’t – as I said all becomes irrelevant

“None of us would argue with that second sentence. It is or should be the raison d’etre of the service. Sadly I fear it is not. .

Oh I think it still is – there are those who would see it less than that I fear.

“I am not sure whether you are referring to the patient, the taxpayer or the NHS employees in your last sentence.

    The patient.

Lincoln, can I ask favour – can you stop calling it “hozzy”!

I’m not sure what Creaking Door is getting at. 4 year old news items about strikes that didn’t happen and quotes from Animal Farm

In my experience, the NHS currently is a vast improvement over that of 20 years ago. The system isn’t flawless but it is a vast improvement on what went previously.
Sadly, what is beginning to creep in over the last few months is the result of cost-cutting and the quality of care is starting to suffer.

Labour were not trying to gain a few political points then!!!

I’m sure they were. It seems to have worked as well. Cameron seems to have gone into hiding.:p

Cameron has followed Labour’s lead and actually done the right thing. It took a bit of prompting though. If Labour hadn’t taken the lead, the Tories would tried to bury this then make an embarrassing U-turn a few weeks later. That appears to be what they’re good at.

Are you being sarcastic or genuinely making a point that a socialist government might make decisions that are socialist in nature? I’m not sure.

If the Tories among you want to doff your caps to your betters then that’s your affair 🙂

Anyway – apologies for the thread drift but Moggie’s comments about Gordon Brown needed addressing.

That’s because his (and his Chancellor’s) class is determining the government’sdecisions.

Arthur – I regret to say that your prejudiced view of Cameron is of no interest to me whatsoever. If we were, objectively, debating his abilities to do his job, that might be a different matter.

And yet you brought it up in a quote – odd way of showing “no interest”

I’m more than happy to debate Cameron’s failings as Prime Minister as they are vast and wide-ranging – perhaps another thread.

The two phrases are, as far as I know, accurate when it comes to describing Cameron. The fact that I changed one for the other is irrelevant.

So for your benefit I think that “Flashman” Cameron is still an arrogant, upperclass, public school twit. I have seen very little, if any, evidence to the contrary.

Interesting that there is a lot of righteous indignation when it comes to the way NI came by lots of information. That indignation was missing when the Telegraph “acquired” information about MPs expenses by, in some cases, allegedly a less than legal manner. The argument of course being that it was in the public interest. The information is either acquired legally or it isn’t.

He was told not to employ him in the first place. He didn’t find out about Coulson after he was employed, he knew before – and employed him anyway. That is where the error of judgement was. Correcting that decision by firing him when he “found out” was a bit late.

SH, show me evidence that Cameron isn’t an arrogant, upper class twit and I’ll retract that statement. 🙂
