Sounds like you were dumped by your ex doesn’t it ppp? You clearly have anti-Scottish views which are at best ill-advised, at worst bordering on offensive. I would suggest that your views on Scottish airfields are biased to such an extent as be worthless.

I think Joanna Lumley is wrong and it sounds to me as if she is living the past… the distant past. Banning laptops in schools, building camps, working on farms – it is 2011 not 1951 you know.

I reckon that children are pretty much the same as they have always been; some bad but most, the ones you usually don’t hear about, are good, decent kids. There is a tendency to always say that things were better in the old days (they weren’t) – and really that’s all this is about isn’t it.

Still, as long as it gets the headlines eh?

I’m not sure which is the more pathetic; the fact that he acquired a snow blower and covered the car in snow or the fact that he uploaded a video of his rather sad deed to the internet. Maybe he could have done something more useful and helpful with his snow blower.

Crime rates are up are they?

The US example would suggest that the death penalty is not much of a deterrent.

You need to calm down. When you can debate in a civilized manner, I might answer your points. Until then I can only assume that democratic freedoms are not important to you.

Maybe so, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be called to account over his comments. Maybe he should go to Woodford in person and explain to the workforce what he meant.

I posted this a couple of days ago in this thread. I believe it to be correct.

PA4 at Warton was also a flier. PA5 at Woodford was in a dismantled state already although it previously flown. PA6 can’t have been far away from initial runs. The two development aircraft outside at Woodford, PA1 and PA2, had already been robbed of parts so weren’t particularly airworthy. The third development aircraft PA3 was becoming PA13 as a production aircraft

Fox is a turncoat. In October a much publicized and leaked letter he warned of the dangers of cancelling Nimrod. Now he goes out of his way to tell lies and rubbish the project – an insult to those who worked hard to make this thing work under difficult circumstances. I hope he is remembered come the next election.

It isn’t politicians who have ‘lined their pockets’ but the shareholders of BAE. The sooner that the Coalition and the MoD realise that they will never get value for money from BAE the better; it cannot be trusted and should be wound up.

I’m a BAE shareholder and I haven’t had my pockets lined. The BAe share price has decreased from £5.20 to £3.50 in the last 3 years. Maybe you would like to explain how pockets are lined by this price drop?

Maybe you would also like to explain how you would wind up a private company?

The MOD need to look closer to home to make procurement better. BAE weren’t involved in the Chinook fiasco – are you going to ask Boeing to be wound up as a result?
There are too many vested interests for there to be any action. Find out how many RAF officers ended up in senior positions in BAE to indicate where the vested interests lie.

Our armed forces exist to defend our freedoms and our form of democracy. To talk of a military coup is a slap in the face to everyone who has fought for those freedoms.

I disagree with the decision to scrap the Nimrod and I will show my disapproval at the ballot box – that’s how it works here.

I believe the early MR2 retirement was out of necessity. The airframes were well past their use-by dates. The decision was made with the knowledge that the MRA4 would be along within the year.

I may have “fallen for the spin” but there is no doubt in my mind that the current government cancelled the MRA4 project – it was their decision and their decision only. The RAF may have offered it but only if something else was saved in return. Why the defence chiefs made their statement when it was too late? Who knows what agendas are at work.

My MRA4 summary is follows – it was a crap project to work on, poorly run and immensely frustrating. It should have been cancelled in 2003 but wasn’t. To cancel it now when it is on the eve of completion after most of the problems have been solved is nothing short of criminal. I only hope that we as a nation don’t live to regret this decision.
