He hasn’t been acquitted (and rightly so) his sentence has been reduced. If we allow members of the public to beat offenders senseless in the street when they have ceased to be a threat, then we are heading rapidly to anarchy. Why did Mr Hussain call his brother first and not the police? Was revenge rather than justice uppermost in his mind? That’s is no way for a criminal justice system to work.

What I’m saying is that you cannot take preventative action to stop something then complain when nothing happens.

I would say you are wrong about the millenium bug. It is because money was spent in preparation that nothing happened. Many companies, the one I worked for included, were looking at the millenium issue for many years before and solving potential problems. If compnies had done nothing we would have been in deep trouble.

Asbestos is the same – maybe because of the preventative measures we take, it ceases to be a problem.

The argument is like that for ABS in cars – we will never know how many accidents never happened because it was fitted.

And those same commentators were probably accusing the government of being ill-prepared a few months ago.

A more positive way of looking at this would be that the preventative measures taken were successful in stopping the spread of the disease.

Last 12 years? Really? What would they be then?

A few gems of “formula monotonous bilge” from the masters of rock and roll Status Quo OBE.

OK, the first one isn’t real rock and roll but the second one is 😉

    Up-to-date news!

This happened in October 2002. The aircraft was eventually written off.

That stuff about the A/T Take-off mode disconnecting the brakes is garbage though.

    Wow, a Quo fan!
Bars, Chords, who cares. They produced monotonous bilge which was their signature to a lot of wannabee rockers.

If you’re going to slag something off, it looks so much better if it looks like you speak from a position of knowledge rather than ignorance.

Personally I would never dream of posting on a thread I knew nothing about.

Or written a tune with more than 4 bars.

Very funny – never heard that one about Status Quo before – I assume you meant chords anyway.

It is so funny that the band even thought of it –

    Is that definately for real?

I don’t see any control surface deflections, though of course they may not be easy to see from that perspective. I also don’t see anything being thrown up by the tyres, and the whole aircraft just looks way to far off centreline to have recovered.

I dunno maybe it’s just me.

If you look behind each engine you can see the high speed aileron deflecting down on the right wing but not on the left.

There are indeed dust spots – just above and to the left of the aircraft fuselage.

The photographer gives an explanation here.
