Well there is no reason for them to have moved from whichever warehouse in the Wellington region that they are sitting in, so hardly surprising that there is nothing new to report.
Yes, too damp.
I noticed some media reports mentioned that the Pup was Sir Peter’s. However it is not either of TVAL’s Pups, but Chariots of Fire’s ZK-SPH, a Pfeiffer-built Le Rhone powered 1961 replica. The Anson Mk1 is Robin and Bill Reid’s Nelson-I-mean-Omaka-based ZK-RRA.
They popped over Cook Straight in a C-130H, rather than a B757, BTW

Less museum, more veterans in this one, and vid of getting into a Pup replica.

There is a bit about the visit on the Omaka AHC site – and it is not too early to start planning your visit to Classic Fighters Easter 2015 🙂

Presumably prep for the visit was the reason for a RNZAF B757 landing at Queenstown for the first time.

TVNZ News clips are not normally geo-locked, so you should be able to see some NZ coverage online.

A 2012 interview with Andrew is included in this podcast episode from Plane Crazy Down Under.

There was a follow-up interview on Feb 28th, not yet published.
Yes it has! And the Solent is now below the Ag Wagon (single prop hanging furthest away), added Skyhawk, Macchi, Devon, Dakota, Auster, and more. The restoration hangar was near empty last I was there, as the Avenger was about to go into the main hangar, and a couple of WW2 twins are moving in there from outside.
I wondered about that, but the co-incidence with TVAL’s 3 flyers (plus one in diorama in Omaka) was strong 🙂
I was going to say “Oi! Don’t take _all_ of ‘our’ SE5a’s!”, but then I realised that the more of them go, the more variety of types stay here. As it sounds like we aren’t going to get an ANZAC Day show here (April 25th, that I’d penciled in going to), looks like I’ll be fore-going the Nov 8-9 re-enactment weekend 1.5 hours drive away for the TVAL airshow an hour’s jet ride and 2.5 hours of driving away.
Some of the Omaka exhibits are ‘airborne’, not sure if the one in a tree counts as ‘suspended’!
http://www.omaka.org.nz/exhibits.htm
The sole surviving CAPRONI CA22 is on (short) poles.
It is possible that the suspended ones there are all replicas?
There are now several suspended items at MOTAT (a hangar that will contain a Solent and Sunderland needs to be quite tall), but at least from the visbility standpoint there is a mezzanine veiwing area. There are currently a couple more suspended since the photo below was taken, and I think a couple more planned.

I’m sure the owners of many UK ex-military aircraft such as the B17 are asking the same question. I’d hate to see the CAA ban the Lanc flying because of this (they have to have permission to fly in UK airspace), so best they sort it out prior to the trip over..
If this aspect hasn’t already been sorted out then those promoting the exercise have been shockingly negligent.
RE8 & Snipe at Old Warden – Hanriot update
The Hanriot was on static at the TVAL show on Feb 22nd (markings unchanged). Gene deMarco has flown it for a couple of hours so far.
I’ll leave the detail of getting photos off an iPad to someone else, but here is my most relevant photo of TVAL’s first F.E.2b’s prop, with scale reference points 🙂

Having had a chance to look at my photos, unfortunately the NZ Warbirds example doesn’t have any writing on the upper surfaces. It’s possible there is a reference work in their library that could be of assistance however. But do ask at Wings Over NZ.
Good work!
I’ll be visiting from NZ next week, planning for Thursday afternoon. Especially keen to see the DAP/GAF aircraft.
I’m looking forward to seeing the Boxkite next week! Will I get a chance to buy you a beer James?
