F6F, yes, they are adapting the same bridge for the next carrier CVN-77 George Bush.
I saw the Smoke squadron yesterday on tv but the nice part was the “interception” of the Boeing 747 “Zeus” by a group of F-5s. I saw on TV also yesterday.

    “???

That’s just a stinky normal MiG-29 two tone grey/greygreen camo.. By far not as dark as the green used by FAB.. Or am I missing something here?”

If you look at the pic of the twin-seat, the camo looks very similar.

The camo used by the Mig-29s looks very similar to the new adopted camo used by FAB fleet of F-5M, AMX and A-29

F6F – This is a kind of courtesy visit, but, i guess exciting for the crew. Rio de Janeiro is a WONDERFUL city, plenty of sights to be seen. 🙂 The design of the bridge is different from other USN carriers, don´t you think?

Ja Worsley – I´m not saying that i doubt you, i just said that i really don´t believe that they could afford with that due to the current economic situation of the country. I will appreciate if you can keep me informed when you get this info from the journalist that you have mentioned, tks 🙂
The P-95 squadron in Florianópolis is based on the other side of the civil airport sorrounded by mountains, beaches (beautiful place). It is very common to see them flying around the island, departing and returning from missions.

    Ja Worsley,

FAB has 04 squadrons of P-95 aircrafts throughout the country. All belongs to Second Air Force/07th Aviation Group ( I never understood well FAB designations for its squadrons/groups). One squadron is based on the North (Belem AB), the second is on Northeast (Salvador AB), the third is on southeast (Santa Cruz AB) and the fourth is on South (Florianópolis AB). The symbol below the cockpit is the squadron badge of the squadron based on Salvador AB named “Ouragan”. Seen at distance looks like the Canadian roundel but it is not.

If i´m not wrong Skyhawks from Singapore are upgraded with Grifo radars. The RNZAF A-4s are kind of mini F-16s right?
FAB and EADS already signed the contract to upgrade eight P-3 to the same standards that those used by Spanish AF.

I really doubt that Argentinian government could get a carrier, it is too expensive, they have problems in keeping the fleet operational, they need upgrades, new aircrafts, new other ships, increase salaries of the military. To increase their monthly earnings, a lot of servicemen are seeking other jobs in order to pay their bills, it is sad to say that, but, it is true.

F6F – Wonderful pics, wonderful scenario. In fact, the carrier came with partial CVW-11 aboard, only Super Hornets, Seahawks, Hawkeyes and Greyhounds.

“Ohadbx – How is the exercise called?”
The name of the exercise was Passex 04

“Srbin – Heyy you said that the A-4 would be getting some upgrades along the lines of F-5 and AMX, what kind of upgrades would they be getting, as if lets say the Su-35 was chosen by Brazil?”
Well, Grifo radar capable of look-down shoot-down, NVG capable, HOTAS, glass cockpit, capable of delivering PGMs, compatible with new Brazilian AAM.

“Ja Worsley – mate I heard that the MdB were only looking at having the AF-1’s for a total of 11 years after which they would seek a modernday equivilant (possibly an armed varient of the USN’s T-45’s). If they were intent on keeping them longer, why didn’t they look at buying the New Zealand A-4K’s? Even the TA-4K’s could have been used on the A-12 considering the problems the MdB have with the trainer varients operating off the carrier.
As for the P-16’s are they still flying off the carrier? I’ve not seen any pics of them lately (I know they have been undergoing modernisation), nor have I heard any news about them lately.
Also do you happen to have any decent pics of the P-95’s? I love those things, armed with rockets they make a good close in MP aircraft.
Finally have you heard any news on the progress of the new Argentine carrier, reports I heard a few months ago stated that they were looking for a carrier in the 25K ton class that would be able to take their equipment that they have now and use aboard as well as opening the posibility for future Naval aircraft aquisitions.”
Hi mate, well i say to you that the AF-1s will be in service for much more than eleven years. As I mentioned before, the Navy is looking for an upgrade at the same level of FAB fighters (F-5 and AMX) and the life service could be extended to 20-25 years. It is also a very good option to buy RNZAF Skyhawks to increase the numbers of serviceable aircraft, including, who knowws, to create a new squadron.
Well, the P-16 is now a piece of museum, it was retired from service almost 10 years ago. In the early 90´s there was a plan to upgrade the fleet with new avionics and engines with a canadian company. One was already upgraded, but, lack of funds was the reason for the failure of this program. There is one P-16 as a gate guard in Santa Cruz AB in Rio de Janeiro attached to a catapult simulating a cat shot, very interesting.
I will try to find a good P-95 pic and send it to you, ok? FAB is purchasing 12 P-3 aircraft to increase the number of maritime patrol aircraft, but, in my opinion this role should be addressed to the navy.
Regarding the Argentine aircraft carrier, i don´t think that this is gonna happen, first, because there is no carrier available for sale. I don´t think in near future, the Argentinian government will have money to develop one or buy one from US (as far as i know, the only country that has carriers availble for sale). Today the Argentinian AF are putting planes on storage due to alck of funds to operate, including the “new” A-4AR fightinghawk.
The Argentinian navy pilots trains regularly on A-12 São Paulo.

Definitely. But i will be glad if the SU-25 could come together. I live very far from the base in which the exercise will take place, but, i will arrange to be there to get pictures. 😉 😎 🙂
