It is not a good idea for Pakistan purchasing Brazilian Mirages III for operational service, but, to supply spare parts for its large fleet of Mirages, sounds inteligent.
As far as I know, Pakistan is supporting US and acting in the war against terror, so it will not be so dificult in getting more F-16s.
I read that 25 sqn is also getting this capability. I think is a very good idea, if funds will be available, to have one or two squadrons of EF.3s operating in this role as the Typhoon is beginning operational service in air defense role.

Or probably using CBUs
Few more information on Iranian Tomcats.
The tomcats in Iranian Service shot down at least 95 iraqi combat aircraft , 30 of them attributed to the Phoenix missile, between seven to ten are “probable” kills.
As the war with Iraq few Phoenix missile have left in Iranian inventory, so they have tried to adapt the Hawk in A2A mode. Some sources said that the prject was a failure.
Right now thay are trying to integrate the R-73 AAM and also manufacture locally the Phoenix.
Does anyone have a good photo of the all black F14D from VX-9?

Chilean Pantera
Also the extra 300 that the Chilean AF (Halcones) use can pull a lot of Gs
Maybe is the fact that they don´t have too much A-10s available and also don´t want to lose more Apaches.
taking into consideration this report from AFM, they look like in good condition.

“Your F-5 BVR capability won’t get very far because you have a small antenna. It is not about having or not having BVR capability but how good is that capability. If you’re BVR is only good for engaging 40 to 50km while the other guy can engage you at 100km, you still are the loser.
Counting that you will get close to take a shot at your opponent (which will only give you 50 to 50 chance as he will shoot at you too) is wishful thinking and wishful thinking has no place with serious military planners.”
Operating alongside an Awacs and also having a 50 km capability, you will have good chances. Until the fight are not finished is 50/50 for both sides.

Yes crobato i agree with you, only in close combat the original F5 is capable.
Two years ago, we have exercised with the French Mirage 2000 and in bvr combat we lost all fights but in close ones, we gave them a hard time.
You know that we are currently upgrade our F5s giving them BVR capability, so this will be no longer a problem, as we will have the possibility to “fight” in real conditions with a good survival rate.
