The jet is C.14-01 from Ala 14/141 squadron. Fortunately the pilot is ok.
Big Headache for the government. Next week, a Dutch delegation is coming to officialize the proposal for selling F-16s MLU.
Hammer, probably the interest come from FAB fighter pilots as higher authorities tends to settle up the deal with the Frenchs. Is it right?
Regards,
“Hey we are having some Brazlian Airforce hercules here this year! i wonder if they could be the same ones i saw at RIO international”
Probably they are from Galeão or Afonsos (nearby). The entire fleet of Brazilian Hercules are based in Rio, on both mentioned places.
Regards,
Looks like good news. Hope that President Lula sign the deal shortly and FAB can received them ASAP.
I think FAB is pretty much interested in gaining experience with MICA because the target for a few years is the RAFALE/MICA combination 🙂

Matt,
Send pics next week. Have a nice show.

“How reliable is this article?”
I don´t know if its reliable or not. We know that Mr. Chavez is investing a lot of money to arm Venezuelan Armed Forces, mainly from Russia and is natural to go over Russian fighters as US is blocking spare parts for FAV Vipers.
In the original FX contest, US government aproved the purchase of the AIM-120.
If they will hold them there, we will use Israeli weapons which are already in service with FAB.
Regards,
Just to add more confusion in this matter. I have received this information in a local (Brazil) military forum on the internet.
Dutch officials will arrive in Brazil on June 6 to discuss with FAB and government officials an offer for 10 F-16AM and 2 F-16BM with a further option for 1 single and 1 two seater. Total price US$ 84 million and it is not a lease, it will be the price for purchasing the entire batch. Training and weapons arenot included in this amount.
Any comments?

“Too me the desicion has always sounded like Embraer using its political clout.”
I agree.
The problem is that Su-35 is in development yet. Russia offered Su-27SKM from their inventory, but I don´t think that government will take them.
Regards,
Phantom II,
I think you made a quick visit to a heaven.
Regards,
Castor,
At the very beginning of the FX contest, other offers were sent to Brazilian government such as the Super Hornet, Typhoon and also the Rafale. The cost for those three fighters were far beyond the budget allocated for the FX. Also, the Rafale was in the very beginning of its career, still in development, gaining full operational capibility with the French Navy. Still today, it not have entered French AF service (it is schedule to replace Jaguars at St. Dizier). The intention is to wait a few more years, and operate with a leased one, to see if the cost will reduce in order to buy it.

Two weeks ago President Chirac and Lula had a conversation on this matter. Negotiations are under way for 12 to 16 Mirages 2000C RDI. It will be a lease. The reason for the Mirages is that the French government wants to sell the RAFALE in near future with the participation of Embraer (Dassault is a minor shareholder of the company). Brazilian AF and the government are very interested on the RAFALE.
Next July, President Lula will be in Paris to join Mr.Chirac at the French National day parade at Champs Elisee (sorry if I wrote incorrectly). Brazilian Smoke squadron will display its Tucanos over there and there is some rumours that a French AF M2000C will fly in Brazilian markings as a “diplomatic” move.
Let´s see

hammer,
You´re a lucky guy to be in the right place at the right time. The commemorative camos for the 30 years of F5 and also for the Pampa sqd are really amazing.
You took those pics?
Abraço, A-29
Hammer,
I have to agree, it is different.
