    Yeah but as commander of an armed force tasked with countering the insurgeny, you’d get to “play” with B-52’s, B-1’s, B-2’s, F-15’s, F-16’s, F/A-18’s, F-22’s Harriers, Tornados, Eurofighters, Nimitz class carriers, ALCM’s, Tommohawk SLCM’s, AH-64’s, or perhaps Su-24’s, Su-25’s, Su-27’s, MiG-25’s, MiG-27’s, MiG-29’s, MiG-31’s, Tu-22M’s, Mi-24’s, M1 and Challanger II MBT’s, SAS, SBS, SEAL and Spetsnats special forces and so on…….

    I read somewhere (AFM I think) about one F-15C hitting another with an AIM-9M and damaging / destroying the port or starboard tailplane. The damaged A/C landed okay I think. This incident led to the USAF ceasing to use live missiles during training accoording to AFM.

    Possible use MiG-29 or Grippen instead of F-16??

    Boom refuelling is a lot quicker than probe ansd drouge (hose) refuelling. The fact that big bombers such as the B-52 needed refuelling fast led to the KC-97 and KC-135 being fitted with refulling booms. Tactical types such as the F-105, F-106 and F-4 also benefitted.

    RAF Sentry AEW / AWACS A/C have both boom and probe refuelling systems attatched.
