Hi, yep your right, i am a Saab fanatic, i miss mine and am looking forward to the day i can get another, i’d like to get a 9-5 estate/station wagon but its out of my price range at the moment. the 9-3 i lost to the now ex mrs in the divorce ๐ฎ ๐ก but never mind, for parts is there a Saab owners club in your country?. there is in quite a few and they can be a good source for cheaper parts. 19 mpg is a bit much btw, i regularly got 28 – 30 out of mine, maybe the injectors could do with cleaning?. or maybe a lighter right foot?;)
all the best.
Greg
Hehe, I’m already in love with my car. Hmm Saab owners club, that could be a good lead. Thanks!! I’m in the US, I’ll see where the local Saab club can point me. Couldn’t you give your ex Mrs another car and take the Saab? Wow 28-30 is incredible. I wish I got that much. I probably need to clean out the injector. I tried the stuff you put in with the fuel “tune up in a bottle”. Maybe its a throttle problem as well. and it over revs, I’d have to look at that. I got it off someone who had it parked for over a year so it needs a good spring cleaning. I’ll post a picture soon. Cheers and best of luck with finding that Saab!

My dad used to drive a 1992 9000CE and before a 1986 9000I.
The 9000 CE was nice to drive but like all Saabs awful expencive in maintenance. My dad drove it for almost 10 years but it became an eletronical nightmare in the end. He sold it to a mechanic in 2001 or 2002.
A few weeks ago I saw it parked at a supermarket (I recognised the license plate so it is still driving)
My dad got a 9-3 instead which is now replaced by a X-type Diesel.
that’s one hell of a long life there! I’m hoping my one will do the same :o)

Wow its beautiful! Looks great in yellow, mine is white. Did you check out the panel near the front passenger’s foot? That’s really something I havent seen in any other car! Also, I love the drive, it drives like a sports car. And mileage isn’t bad – 19 mpg.
You really sound like you like your saabs. I need to fix my one up and the only and biggest drawback of the Saab is, I guess, the cost of the parts. A new front exhaust pipe (or the whole pipe it costs the same) is $129.80. A new P/S pump is $328.53. Thats like the most expensive parts I’ve ever come across!
I love the little gadgets she has and the very “cockpitish” feel of the driver. Even the front panel curves like a cockpit..
Hiya, i have owned quite a few Saab cars including two 9000 ones. one a 9000’s and the other a 9000 cd-xs, both were exellent cars and served me well. the only thing to watch i found was th front brake calipers can stick, best to have them serviced properly to avoid this. i have owned some old shape 900 models too. and a 9-3 turbo cabrio. thats an awesome car. but out of the three types the old 900 handles best. the 9000 is the best family car and load lugger and the 9-3. well, fast as you like and pose factor without comparison really.
my last Saab, a 900i 16v was writen off by a stupid (insert derogatory term questioning parentage here) driving on the wrong side of the road round a bend. still waiting for the insurance to sort that mess out.
all the best

The thing is, they have a patent. Now they have to clarify with us how they have improved on the previous generation of similar russian software. And I guess, if they have found a new way to work out discretization error. I’m more of a gatekeeper, we’ll obviously hire the required technical person(s) to really get down and dirty with looking at their invention.
cheers and thanks again.
Thanks Flex and Kilco. That really clears it up for me. I’ll keep you updated on what goes. My present project involves writing a report on where the can market this stuff. If you guys are right (as you must be), I don’t know why a number of big names have bought into this technology (?) Maybe they have something, or maybe they figured out how to include the mesh error in their calculations..
by the way, if you PM me your names and a little background I can put you in as advisors ๐
Hey Flex, you’re the biggest ANSYS guru here I recon. Its a small Russian company called GDT Software Group. I must admit I’m in a bit of a fix as this company was not in my plate for the last 2 months but got dumped on me 12 hours ago and now I need a crash course in comparing gas dynamics software and 3D visualization software.
They have some big names as their clients, I’m wondering if they can compete against the big names in this sector like ANSYS, (particularly after ANSYS’s acquisition of Fluent).
Also, the key element for them is that its claimed to be 50 times faster than Fluent or the other competitors. How useful is that, practically for a typical user? I’d think it would be useful in analysing nuclear reactors on the fly but .. ? what else is there?
trouble attaching stuff
I actually sympathize with the japanese. You need to realize they have spent the last 60 years kissing up to the nation that nuked them twice. This could in the end be a serious psychological time bomb and the rest of asia might have to face it.
You know, I’d like to see some of our forum heroes cheering on the war (and coming wars) go into Iraq and Iran themselves. Surely, such bravado deserves to be extended in deeds as well as in typing heroics. ๐
I’m not quite sure if this is the proper forum to reply, but facts do warrant citation.
Iraq would be a heck of a place for a U.S. “war for oil” conquest.
If the US was trully going to “war for oil” we would have much easier and softer targets that would cost less in lives and treasure to take.
Crude imports into the US from Iraq consist of a grand total of **DRUMROLL** 4.8%!!!! ๐ฎ Angola is hot on its heels at (4.6%). Watch out Angola – George Bush and the big bad United States is coming for your oil! One shouldn’t feel so safe and secure in Norway either, as Norway provides almost 2% of the US’s oil imports.
The US gets most of its imported oil from Canada (20%), Mexico (15%), Saudi Arabia (13%), Venezuela (12%).
The idea that the US toppled Saddam to get a hold of Iraq’s oil wealth isn’t borne out by the facts or common sense.
Now if one want to claim the toppling of Saddam was in error, that is certainly a proposition worthy of debate. If one claims that the US motive for toppling Iraq was to “send a message” to various regimes that also is worthy of debate.
However, to claim the US was looking to grab Iraq’s oil wealth when it finally took decisive action against Saddam, ignores the fact that a band of angry armed Americans in Montana could probably load up their SUVs with guns and ammunition to lead an armed drive up Alberta’s Highway 2 and capture far more oil resources at far less a cost in lives than the current conflict in Iraq. Also, the Albertans might be far more welcoming of such an incursion (considering their distaste for Ottawa’s politcians and their countrymen in Quebec) than some of the sectarian groups in Iraq.
To get closer to the topic of the thread, as for Iran, who knows what will happen? A nation seeking nuclear weapons is not necessarily a reason for worry – Americans aren’t running around with fear & worry over the prospect of China, Russia, UK, Israel, Pakistan (spare a radical Islamist coup dโรฉtat), India & France’s nuclear arsenals, as fear of a weapon usually depends on those who hold it. However, in Iran, (in particular the Mullahs, the leadership, the IRGC) would one be so certain that they would not use a nuclear weapon against any number of nations, or provide it to those who really wouldn’t care if Tehran were vaporized in response?
If the world is safer, if liberty and tolerance is promoted/not harmed by a nuclear-armed Iran (at least while Ahmadinejad, Khamenei, and IRGC hold the reins), then why go through all of this anyway? Someone, should supply Iran with a dozen or so ICBMs, and perhaps 100 or more tactical nukes and enjoy the ensuing stability and peace that follows. ๐
My personal advice to you would be to take a course in economics. It’ll really help you argue and think.
