tee hee!!

Of course it is fine to take the same display….for some that is all they have and ‘we’ are richer with them than without. I try to vary my displays (add to them etc) and try and bring ‘extras’ (this year the P39 control pane//stick, Mig15 column/pedal pedestal and Whirly screen) as it MAY appeal to someone. I have not brought a jet cockpit for 3 years (last took 2 of my 3 hunters), so may look at slotting that in. As next year is 100 years of Hawker/Sopwith at Kingston, may do something related.

A few shots. The Kingcobra was displayed on a stand identical to what they were built on and made by RHW’s dad. I thought it was wonderful.

The Lanc was lovely. I like the Owls and even they missed Merlin (who was absent) and did not have the chance to eat him!

Don’t get me wrong, I do love Jets (I have 3), but there is some incredible effort that goes into the warbirds (P63, Hornet, Gary’s Stang etc). I have as many people to talk to whether I take a jet or a WW2 project. If I take a jet, there are more younger kids, if WW2, more in the 20s to 80s bracket. I chat to em all as my passion is an obsession!
I love the fact that you can see definite progress in the WW2’s.

Regarding votes, a mix of peers and visitors is good. I did find the form confusing as I started voting for a cockpit and an exhibit until Bill corrected me!!

I must admit I loved chatting to so many people and explaining about my cockpit.

One thing I (and others) have noticed is that the Fest is one place where shiny pointy jets are king! Not saying it is wrong, how could I as I have feet in both jet and piston camps!? Jets are more glamorous and popular with the public. What do others think?

(And I don’t mean the awards as they go to the most deserving)
