Oh my golly gosh!! The attention to ORIGINAL detail is absolutely awesome including the TR9 radio mounting cradle and mod plates etc…..really really impressed. Anyone got a cockpit shot?

Well done to all associated with this absolutely superlative restoration.:):)

its a bit of a larff and delighted me to see a Beau as opposed to the usual ubiquitous Beech 18, Stampe, or Dak they normally ‘use’

Besides, you should be writing SS not watching films!!!

down to amount of air old chap…..corrosion requires water, oxygen and the metal to corrode….heat helps corrosion too…..I have many fishplates and other stainless items from a saline environment, some do get a form of worm like corrosion (impurities in the stainless)….if I get a chance I will post a pic if anyone cares…..dont worry about yourdimensions I will sort them

Very sad but good that the pilot is ok, looks like a wheel under port leading edge….expensive

Foulness was recipient of the worlds last flying Scimitar (XD244) which flew in to Southend from Hurn on Saturday 13th February 1971 this was the last flight of the type. It was roaded out to Foulness on Monday15th February 1971.

Four other Scimitars are known to have flown in to Southend:

XD241 and XD322 flew in on Wednesday 2nd December 1970 and left by road on Monday 21st December 1970,

XD333 & XD234 flew in on Wednesday 20th January 1971 and left by road on Monday 15th February 1971.

Look at the little friends web site on the 364 page 8 you will find this aircraft
listed there also there is one photo ther to

many thanx old chap….pity that is not her in the pic though, but great for colour scheme, cheers
