I think the book covers a too wide amount of time to be enclosed in a single movie (anybody fancy a trilogy? :D), and yes, Moggy doesnt actually shoot at the car, he just gives it a really close shave, and that was common practice in all the air forces. Being a youngster and sitting on a growling flying thing with loads of HP doesnt help your good manners, does it? 😉

I still love the series. I find it amusing that hi jinx in the mess still happens and jolly fun it is too….though they dont like pianos being burnt!! 🙂
One pilot was dear old Nick Grace too. Fantastic flying. Incidentally, even given some distasteful traits, all the characters are likeable.

If you read his book, IIRC, Moggy in his aircraft shoots up the Padre who is leaving in his car….not sure that ever happened?!!!!!

My beef was that DR put all the rotten apples in one squadron. Not too sure I am happy that the credit of going away from the Dowding spread and the fitment of head armour should be given to the American pilot!!!

Like it or not, PoC may go down as historically accurate after you and I have departed the earth.

All in all, I like the series, tho’ I see its failures and inaccuracies.
