    normally depends on the crews/bods available I daresay that (like previous years) a Canberra, Hastings, Vulc will be open.

    Any modellers/sage luminaries may wish to take lots of phots of the cockpit interiors….we owners dont give a monkey’s shiny red butt what you photo and what you do with your photos…post em where you like….unlike some owners/organisations I could mention. 😀 😀 :diablo:

    thanx for update, I will be there with the typhoon instrument panel and my newly acquired F2 Hunter cockpit…one can neverhave enuff Hunter cockpits!

    As far as I know, the guns weren’t synchronised at all as that would slow down the rate of fire. So I guess they wouldn’t fire in any particular sequence.

    you are correct, only differences caused by airflow delays and pipe lengths and recocking!

    The MkV with cannon and mg’s had a different spade grip to the earlier type. There was a rectangular gun button, press top part get mg’s , bottom part get just cannons, press middle get ‘heaven can wait’ as an old spit pilot told me….see photo

    Possible practical applications are reduced internal reflections with night flyingthereby better visual cueing? Also on some applications did this not have a benefit of better FOV by putting the pilot nearer the downward slope of the nose?

    I cannot see any (aircraft) performance benefit at all.

    Although I cannot think which one, I am sure there were some very stylish open coupes of the 1920’s with unframed split front glass that leaned forward. The problem is that if you opt for that, attaching a soft hood poses a bit of a problem.

    Much nearer to home, my old stomping ground of the Military Vehicle Engineering at GM, there was a Danish version of the Bedford ‘R’ type military 3 tonner that had a reverse slope FRONT windscreen.

    This great man not only saved unsung types (Oxford, Anson etc) but also some absolute gems….he certainly started many ‘modern’ preservationists off. A sad loss and a huge legacy….

    OK, a crude stab without the calculus ( mass varies along the blade length as does speed )
    centripetal force = mass x acceleration
    acceleration = V squared / radius
    so centripetal force = mass x V squared / radius

    crude assumptions:
    centre of mass is 25% blade length from the hub centre and mass is 25kg

    this comes out with a radius of 0.4 m, a speed ( V ) of about 6 m/s and a mass of 25kg

    This works out at 2156 Newtons, 220 kg or 484lbs centripetal force.

    Anyone agree/disagree ?

    It is 23:30, I am tired, I cannot believe I am having a go at this!!!

    Using your assumptions…..

    Centripetal F = mr(omegaSqd), where v=romega
    substituting gives F=mr(v2/r2), so F=mv2/r
    using metric, F=25×36/0.4=2250N…..225kg…..so yep youre right…..with your assumptions!

    however, 2500rpm is v=romega=0.4x2500x2pi=6282rad/min=104.7rad/sec…..cant be bothered!!!

    ! That’s a civil a/c seat. Can’t see it in a military type.

    Are you sure as it is grotty green, how many civil seats swivelled? what was the gunner seat on a beau’ like…..the chap was quite sure it was at least military (but then again he was toldit was Blenheim)….

    Well here is a photo of it, the mount is not original and there are no visible plates…hugs the derriere very well(!) and has provision for a lap strap….
