OK – no problems then. I agree with Melv. Spitfire 24 at Southampton.
BTW> This was posted before I saw Melv’s photo 😀
I was getting the impression anyone called ‘Mark’ was banned from this quiz!
Looks like some very nice paintwork going on there as well as engineering work. They are working on the ‘paint any part as soon as possible’ method used by HFL here.
Unless, of course, you own a Spitfire and then it is what makes it worth so much!
That’s a good point. These machines were a necessary sacrifice I suppose – but it still hurts to look at a picture of a machine being destroyed 🙁
So now we have guessed what it is do we get to know the story behind these lovely chunks of Thunderbolt?
Ammo bay door too wide for a Mustang. Looks like a P-47 to me.
Yes, it looks that way.
Happymeal, can you PM me please as I have new contact info for you.
This a/c is not at HRL.
Look out for the Hercules ASI in calibrated in knots when the engineer is calling out identical speeds in mph.
Also be sure not to miss the Racer which has no canopy in the close up flying shots and a closed canopy in the distance flying shots.
Its not really that contentious is it?
I agree Steve. I think the forum flatters itself that there could be any repercussions for the operator in question. It really is old news.
I told myself I wouldn’t bite, but Consul, you have my sympathy. Not all that long ago I posted a colour shot of an RAF Neptune in the Lasham scrapyard, and no-one took a blind bit of notice.
It could be said that this forum is a victim of its own success. A new thread can vanish down to page three in only a few hours and it may seem to the originater that nobody has any interest in it. Its usually not the case.
On 5 Jan in this thread I already said I had shots at Lasham (any many other yards) I would post in the future but no-one seemed interested.
Love to see them please!
The shot of Buchon G-HUNN looks like it was taken at N Weald (with ‘The Squadron’s Nissen hut behind it).
