Hmmm now I know who to come kidnap when or if we ever get our project into the paint booth (looooooooong way away).*insert evil and maniacal laugh/cackle here*
Just say the word….
I CAN tell you that the markings on MH434 are about as innacurate as they could get and MKV will be with me on this.
Completely old chap! In fact I was at a hotel dinner in company with OFMC a couple of years ago and one of their pilots said to me “Whats all this about our Spitfire’s markings being wrong, we keep reading about it on forums?”. I explained what the fuss was about and the pilot asked me to point out exactly what the problems were on the aircraft the following day. This I did and he understood what I was getting at and said he would speak to Ray about it. Anyway, this he did and the next day I asked what the respose was, expecting to be asked to come over and make some corrections. Apparantly Ray said “OK – but I like it that way!” so as far as I was concerned the case was closed 🙂
My favourite would be for the first option.
Your wish is being granted 🙂
I think the significant thing with the Wirraway was that it appears that the seller did not remove it from eBay prior to the cut off point.
Precisely – in effect he has sold the same item twice and both buyers now have a claim on the a/c.
A few photos here:
The second photo is just superb 🙂
It says quite clearly on it
TWO seat fleet fighter to Air Ministry Spec…..
I think the intention was to show a Spitfire drawing as although it says on the drawing itself ‘Two seat Fleet fighter etc’, the file name is ‘Spitfire drawing’!
Anyway, some of the comments on it seem to suggest there are still Mosquitoes flying. I don’t think that’s so
Sadly, you are correct.
There is indeed a planform painting of a full size MkIX Spitfire on the centre lower surfaces based on PL344.
Have you yet politely pointed out to the gentleman that the real PL344 needs its strange ‘reversed grey’ paintwork correcting? If so, I believe the weather is quite pleasant in Florida in the winter.
Thanks Lee!
Brooklands have started to make keen and interested noises about next year, so all is not lost yet!
That’s a great place to go visit in any case. Good luck!
only the gate house and the original office block are still standing.
Here are some dark shots taken a couple of nights ago…
Surely there must be photos of the two Seafires side by side?
shoving them away which must be disastrous corrosion wise etc.
What evidence do you have to back up this claim? Have you inspected these aircraft? I expect some of the people here who have been working on one of these stored aircraft may not agree with you. When I made a detailed inspection of one that had been stored for about 12 years I found it to be in excellent condition, there was not even any dust on it.
Why therfore does he seem to concentrating on remakes?
There have been an awful lot of remakes recently. My understanding is the reason for it is down to funding. Making a major movie is so costly these days and obviously requires serious financial backing. Investors want guarantees that they will not be financing a flop and although 100% certainty is impossible, its considerably easier to go cap in hand for funds to make a movie based on an established TV series such as ‘Starsky & Hutch’ or to re-make a popular film such as King Kong. It is unfortunate as this means that new and original stories and concepts will struggle even more to get funding whereas ‘Superman 26’ or the 47th Bond film are all considered relatively safe financial investments and the financiers will be much more willing to fund them.
So what would the other frame 11 be called now??
On a T.9, Frame 13A (where the ‘other’ person sits)!
