Friendly fire is plausible but did a hung up target indicator catch fire in the bomb bay ?
Good operational record of Guy Gibsons flights in Richard Morris book. Consider the best for accuracy.
There is a Norseman aircraft with the large Canadian air force serial number on the fuselage so I reckon the first picture was taken in Canada possibly Gander en route across the Atlantic.
Watched the programme last night in which Mark Evison was killed May 2009. Very moving, urge you to read his diary on the Daily Telegraph website.

I was at Duxford on the Saturday , superb weather. Thank you to you and all the other contributors of excellent photographs of the day. For those of us who do not have all the necessary camera equipment it is so kind of you to share your work. I have a bad knee which hindered me walking around so I parked myself near the parked Lancaster to watch the flying.
Why do the BBC ,politicians and do-gooders insist on using the word “depraved society”. This means morally bad. The riots were due to materialistic wants. Most of them have Sky TV,the latest all singing mobile and £100 trainers so why is this crap bounded about. To correct the morally bad a short sharp spell in basic rights to the morally good should be taught.

The Sabre display was excellent, good weather and a nice audience number wise made this a good day out, much better than the large shows. Bought 2 tee-shirts from the 492nd TFS Lakenheath for £10 each great to see the Americans, pity Duxford catering policy did not allow burgers, spare ribs like the old Mildenhall air shows with an ice cold Bud from a cooled dustbin.
Sat in my car minding my own business tonight in a MacDonalds car park . Mercedes pulls up 2 lots away as I was eating ,yob winds down window and gobs out of the window. I moved away ,car with 3 youths parks behind then proceeds to throw out remains MacDonalds.
This country desperately needs a revolution ! time to kick ass !!!:dev2:

Photo 2 winglets are modern day aerials probably for ILS approach/glideslope receivers. Photo 4 hazard a guess at cooling scoops for the airborne interception radar .
