I’ve yet to watch it as I taped it… But did watch Gathering of Eagles on Five earlier in the afternoon – all that clag fromthe B-52’s as they took off in a stream…

Some of us will be there from FRIDAY!!!

The weather was indeed dire but at least by the end of the day it stopped raining…
Was nice to meet you too Anna & 92FIS & Mark9 junior.
I also met Propstrike who I’d like to thank publicly for taking me aloft and putting up with my attempts at keeping the Cub going in a straightline on the ground – I have a greater respect for them on the ground now… Also to pass on thanks from my mother for her trip too.
After the weekend I think perhaps one or two of our group will be going on a diet!!!!
Total VAC visitors – 5 at least we’re getting more each time this year!!!

Also depends what level of check you are going through…
The MoD have lost people because of the long time they have taken to check people. Due to the wait they went and got another job…
They are getting quicker. They do say three months but seems to be nearer one these days.

Radio 2.
BBC7 for the comedy hour most evenings
Radio 4 for ISIHAC when it’s on and
Classic FM at lunchtime at work.

I think the escort was shared by a number of Police Forces as it moved through their respective areas – which Police Force was your dad with?. The pic in Aeroplane (October, 2003 page 71) shows it with a Jag escort behind it but there was probably a vehicle in front as well.

Quite right my Dad was only part of the escort duties… The task as you say passed from one Force to the next along the route. He was in Northants police when he escorted her… I know there are several different escort photos.

The field has more than a half dozen Stearmans, a rare Stearman “Senior Speedmail” mail plane, A Beech Staggerwing, a Howard DGA, A T-6, various Cubs & Super Cubs, a Helio Courier on floats…and spending the winter in a warm hangar…a genuine 1918 Curtiss Canuck (Canadian Jenny). They’re planning a antiuque fly-in later…I’ll try to post some photos

Good company for G-TURN there – A Pitts, Jungmann and Stearman…. (The wing tip elludes me!!!)

Think G-TURN is close to being fixed now if she’s not already up and about.
Can’t remember where she’s being fixed but I recall seeing a picture somewhere..

That’s the thing with restorations sometimes isn’t it – you only see what’s on the outside… Never the full extent inside. If the exterior is anything to go by from the pictures the inside will be outstanding too.

If you ever get to see Zlin G-EJGO check out the quality of the work inside the cockpit too… It went back to a place next to the Zlin works and was refurbished…

Is the Skybolt US or UK based?

We’ve gad based aircraft fly-out then back in to book in and then out on a local just so they could say they went. So you wouldn’t be the first…
