Having been looking at the Snargasher thread it reminded me about the Tawney Owl.

Many years ago the “other” monthly mag ran a series of “blue-prints” for various classic types & the Siskin was one of those featured. It had some scrap views of fuselage joints and a cocpit layout diagram.

I have also loved these aircraft for years and would love to see one either static or even better flying!
I thought I had heard that a flying one wouldn’t be allowed in the UK due to the style of construction wood/metal/fabric. I’d love to be wrong on that.

Happy days.
I spent many a happy day there with my dad up there on the Queen’s Building. We used to go very regularly.
Oh the days when you could get in the middle and watch the planes go by. Then they started to shrink the space and finally closed it. 🙁

On this computer I am limited but I think for artyness:

Taken at Leicester from inside the hangar looking out & shows nothing outstanding but I liked the effect.
My luckiest shot though was this one:

Slight crop but it was just a “ooh” moment & took it.

The original runway of RAF Lakenheath is still in good nick underneath the newer tarmac (listed as a Porous Friction Surface) surfaces. The USAF extensions of 1950’s and 60’s isn’t though. The combined rating for those pieces is less than the rating for the WWII!!!
Just thought you’d like to know.
