I passed two Chinook fusalages on the back of a couple of trucks this afternoon heading north on A34 (if my memory serves). I tried to get serials but as passing on opposite carriageway at 80 I couldn’t read them clearly.

They were ZA684 & ZA713 IIRC.

Loads of them in Oxfordshire.
Usually a few visible at the great Abingdon Air & Country Show.

The reason the American’s treat their flag with such reverence Tony, is because it is to them their country & identity. They pledge allegiance to their flag not the president, whereas in the UK if there is such allegiances pledged they are to the reigning Monarch and not the flag. To us a flag is a flag. It is so much more to an American. (I had this explained to me whilst I was over there)

Popham’s example was donated by the Vintage Aircraft Club and was used for years at Finmere when the Club operated from there… There was an article years ago about it and I think her origins pre-VAC were listed but the mag is in store at the moment….

Interesting one Sideslip, a changeable scheme would be good. I would think that the technology would be available in the nearer future than we think. Be good for sponsors.
