    the day of the jackel….

Brilliant still after all these years. An shame on Hollywood for trying to “remake/rebrand/re-image” it….

    leave well alone…

It’s a time capsule of sorts, there are “fresh” spits all over the shop, very few have this level of authenticity, it could be a bit like the Corsair down at the FAA museum (KD-431).

It’s a genuine combat aircraft, displayed as it was when it was “demobbed”. Albeit with cables added which is another debate I know……

Doorway issues aside, I love the place and it does a grand job. I’ve posted it before on here but worth telling again. I took my son there when was 8 I think, we sat in the cuban missile crisis room, did the tour etc and had a fun day. Towards the end he said “so dad, a cold war, isn’t a real war, but one that they get other people to try and fight for them in other countries”

one 8 year old educated and interested….. can’t be bad !

as an aside, I love the Vauxhall “spy car” from Berlin !

I don’t envy the mods at the moment, and thanks to them for what they do for the forum and us users. Can’t say that I saw the threads that caused this issue to arise, but I have met Andy and mailed Peter several times, and they are a loss to the forum as is Charlie.

Whatever happens, the forum is a lesser place without their membership and contributions, a while ago I mailed Peter with a request for some help with a model being built by a guy at the Malta aviation museum. Within a day, I get a lovely mail with .pdf’s of Mk IX gun bay arrangements and as much detail as I needed. Top man.

I spoke with Andy at Duxford last year, time to meet a “fan” and to say hello to my son, a gentleman.

What a mess…… and a loss to us all with any interest in the forum and its contents.

Good luck Moggy, Bruce and Peter ! To quote from the Battle Of Britain, “Tin hats everybody”……..:(

based on the above, I vote Moggy C…..

UKIP may pull some “Protest” votes in by elections, but come a full scale general election, people stick to the “big”, parties remember David Steele and his “Go back to your constituencies, and prepare for Government” statement?

It featured members of the No 56 Sqn Firebirds team walking from their Lightnings and always sticks in my mind as being the inspiration for my joining the RAF and flying the mighty beast myself.

    .

Not the images you are looking for, but the beer and the ladies may also have given you the inspiration to join up ? 😉

So, I have a written warning under the “general conduct” policy that such behaviour could cause offence. Of the 15 or 16 people present, 4 were interviewed. The two HR bods, and myself and my assistant. So, our word against theirs, and guess who “wins“.

Solicitor says its against ACAS guidelines in terms of the way it was run, but also says if I fight it I will win, but will always loose in the end.

Trying now to see how much crow I can eat to stick it out, so cheesed off in truth I just want to walk….. but in this day and age….
