Attitudes like the one above. Especially at a time like this when we’re commemorating those who gave you the opportunity to live a life of apathy.

My best friend from school days went straight into the army at 16, served in Northen Ireland installing radios in watch towers etc. He married his school girlfriend and after 15 odd years of wedded “bliss” still struggles with his father in law. The crux is his father in law declaring that servicemen were “too stupid to vote they shouldn’t be allowed to” and my friends “firm” reply that actually, people shouldn’t be allowed to vote UNTIL they have served.

Hoon and Beckett now….
Hope the last one out turns off the lights and gives the Trident key to somebody responsible.
Oh, hang on…..:D

I aint seen the duxford one yet, anyone got a pic?
Not the best but am sure there are others.
Hang on BSG, I’m not suggesting it is anything to do with the FAAHF now, t’was about 16 years a go when I saw it last, anyhow they have two of their own!
Sorry – my mistake, I looked at the old www site there and made 5 from 2+ 2 !
You are right on the black though – the one at Duxford looks superb.
Remember seeing that languishing at Yeovilton.
Would be great to see it in the all black, radar equiped configuration.
Isn’t that an RAF scheme though? I agree that it would look superb and a little out of the ordinary, but a FAA aircraft in RAF (119 Squadron?) scheme, can’t see that going down to well !:diablo:
October 1st….
I say chaps, those boffins over at Carlton have announced the next volume of their Commando reprint titles for October this year its called “Battle of Britain scramble”
and has another stunning Ian Kennedy cover.
Just before my birthday – perfect………..
story from Beachy Head
just so sad, to loose a child, not to be able to cope, to resort to this.

I have a horrible feeling though that not a great deal will change. The story is massive in terms of abuse of trust and responsibility but the attention span of Joe Public won’t allow it to be covered fully. The stories last week were bumped from the red tops by Jade Goodie’s mother seeing her face in a cloud, and a non entity “pop” star splitting from his slightly larger entity wife. While there will be some scalps (with payoffs) any large scale change will need to be approved by the very body that it is intended to police.
I think there will be one or two large scale sacrifices made by each party, then we will have a “select committee” costing millions to investigate the a potential new process. I can’t see anybody with a sweeping system that would propose for example, flat salary based on years as an M.P. Accomodation in a government owned building (Olympic Village was a grand idea) and flat travel rates.
Any police investigation would be huge, fraud cases always are, how many MP’s over how many years……? Just can’t see it happening.
It makes me so ******* angry when I see them all with their noses in the trough……

I did a trial flight from Lasham one summer evening, fantastic fun. I’m only about 8 miles from Lasham and its easy to forget the operational history and later use. They scrapped RAF F-86’s there that were not sold onto Yugoslavia etc. In the nearby woodland where they do paintballing and outdoor training courses you can still see the dispersal areas etc.
Bournmouth had a Viscount simulator which I spent hours in with my son, its been a couple of years now but could they be from that or something similar ? I don’t know where it went when they closed and moved?
Were these hangers metal wire types, wooden or plastic?
Neat trick if its one of those wire ones doubling up as a car aerial ….
I’ll get my coat……
before I go, Flt Lt Lee was said to have flown through the number 3 hanger at Debden, and was also credited with returning from aerobatics with grass on his aerial. From scraping the ground I doubt, but a fine story to pass on !
