Skyraider could carry more !

another case where the replacement can’t match up with the original. A1 could carry a toilet and a kitchen sink, A-7 manages a flimsy wooden ladder !:diablo:

Ugly looking spud though, but in common with other US types, having one in the UK would be great.

Thanx Anna and Mike….it is well worth a visit….possibly a good venue for a forum meet…I only live around the corner so you are always welcome a cup of tea!

what a small world, I’m up the A-303 in the town of 1000 roundabouts and the Mrs has taken the kids to the hawk conservancy more times than I can count !

I bet I tripped over you at Popham !

That is a great find, unusual, interesting and rescued from becoming part of a motorway or road!

I’m curious about its use, is it a “template” to design bomb casings around or also physically dropped as ballast in the casing to test the bomb ?

Depends on the weather next week, the annual starts on Friday. Also need tide tables for the area.

I recall reading that the Belgium F.4’s were troublesome along with everybody elses initially ? It was a case that they had so many (US funded purchase) so they had more than they needed, many were bought back with next to zero hours for refurb and resale. Barry Jones wrote of reliability problems that Hawker couldn’t address as they were tied up with RAF service requirements, but these problems may have come from the Avions Fairey production I guess. Hawker bought back nearly hundred at scrap value. The Dutch seemed happier with their Fokker built aircraft.

Belgium built 256, a mix of F.4’s and F.6’s – 64 paid for by the USA, 256 seems a high figure for a small air force even at that period in history.

I have to agree – e-mails, texts and dare I say forums are dreadful for misunderstandings and “e-mail wars”etc which are common where I work, yet I can’t see anything but a rebuke for Paul yet within a few hours the info requested was there.

Not sure if its a remake, then again “re-imagined” is a bit of a naff description. Either way, its 2 hrs of noise, explosions, some very good character acting – its a big Mac for the eyeballs, check your brain in at the door and just let your eyes be entertained. Well worth a few £ on a ticket.

talk to the LMA about it (large model association) though be careful. before proposing such a large model, you’re likely to get your teeth bitten out …
