There was mayhem on the A303 getting in, I’ve never seen it that busy but well worth a look. From the far end of the field I could have sworn I saw a P-51 with “sharks mouth” – what with the dips and small hill I couldn’t get a close look and my son vanished into a crowd so I lost sight of it.

Well worth it though and well done to anybody and everybody who made the effort after last years wash out.

been past few years, always spend too much…..:o and it will be great to see a local (for me anyway) event beat the weather. Wash out last year, tipped down the year before and a lot of people seemed to leave early.

Sci Fi turns a lot of people off as soon as you mention another planet, spaceship etc, but Battlestar was fantastic TV and from what I saw of this pilot movie, there is a lot more to come. It has murder, sex, religion, human sacrifice (all with a PG rating!) in the first few minutes…

The replacement was JFH Harrier GR.7/9 which are doing a job which the Sea Harrier couldn’t possibly do .

and to add a point, a trained and qualified pilot recovered from a “situation”, landed the aircraft with no damage to life or limb – I just wonder how many people were involved in road traffic accidents in Devon yesterday…..

HD can be a mixed blessing, the clearer the image, the easier it is to see stunt doubles, etc – I needed to adjust my thinking somewhat when viewing, I found I needed to enjoy the quality and not notice such things.

With the Battle Of Britain, the early scenes when the Me-109/Buchons attack the air strip could be spectacular, then later you’ll see the MK-XIX sticking out like a sore thumb, same as the Buchons in the Huricane flight.

Any movie that you love is surely worth having though – my Mrs still hasn’t worked out that I only got the kids a PS-3 so I could have a Blu-ray player !!:diablo:

I don’t buy the CF-105 conspiracy….the U.S. sold/gave Canada USED F-101s, which it later replaced with upgraded models for free.

I agree it does sound a bit like “America Bashing” – I mention it only because a few days ago I saw “secret superpower aircraft” on the history channel (have my 9 year old addicted to such programmes now!) and it was stated there by Bill Gunston among a couple of others. Canadian PM needed money for farming reforms etc ? RCMP found evidence of spying and information leaks. Can’t claim to know more than that – there were some interesting CGI images of the Arrow in USAF “Vietnam” colours though.

Good point about the F-102 and F-108 though, I hadn’t considered that.

As I think it could be said the 60s and into the 70s was when the cold war was really getting going, if the Russians were to ‘somehow’ have come into possession of the TSR-2 plans it wouldn’t have taken long for them to have them built!

I thought they had a similar wing design on the Su-24 designs and later stated that they wanted to keep it ?

I’m not sure if the “disposal” was part of a conspiracy, the CF-105 Arrow was said to be compromised with security leaks (then again the US wanted to sell F-101’s and Bomarcs so who knows…) never read anything like that about the TSR-2. I think most of not all cancelled projects were tidyied up like that, didn’t the fuselage of the Avro bomber (730 ?) end up as large scrap bins?
