Solved it…

Just did the school run as we have 2 inches of slush on the road and I’m on hols. Left 15 mins early – I thought that was the trick.

Noooooooooooooooooo – what you do, and I share this freely with forum members, is put your fog lights on, and then drive as normal…. it must melt the snow as you go you see, then the rear fogs make sure ot doesn’t freeze up behind you.

So, Fogs on, Foot down – thats the ticket……

they are lovely snaps – and the Lanc does look grand in white, I bought the Corgi 1/144 “Indian” Lanc with white uppers and black undersides.

Can any Lancaster experts tell me what the fairing is on the starboard side of the fuselage? I recall seeing it in early shots of the BBMF Lancaster so guess its something for cooling etc in the tropics?

Took the kids in this morning – its 3.5 miles – roads outside junior/infant shcools on the same site NOT SALTED still – nightmare.

Funniest thing, caretaker told me he had overheard two people say that they left the 4 wheel drives (standard school run kit) at home as it was too dangerous…….

words fail me.

What salt !
It’s that big lump on the roof that bothers me, we had someone else’s large chunks come away and bash against our windscreen yesterday and as they were going the other way we didn’t see it coming.

We did get some , I also “liberated” some from one of those yellow storage bins to do the path outside my house and the shared 5 car driveway.

perhaps you could have removed some more snow off your car, it wouldn’t have taken long, if you thought it was a good idea to drive like that with reduced visibility and large chunks of snow falling off and landing on whatever was behind, well, words fail me.

I tend to leave some snow on the bonnet if I have to drive – it flakes back onto the windscreen and then the wipers have something to wash all the salt off as the washers are useless.

True to form, gritters did one round last night BEFORE the freeze, so it was under ice this morning – easy drive in once I reached the main roads, but still people driving as if nothing had changed.
