Hendon does get some grief (from me as much as others) and this is good to see. If you had to list your top 5 5, 10 or even 20 RAF aircraft of the era to restore I doubt that the Defiant would rate high on many lists. As an off thread posting, the Crowood series book on Turret Fighters is a bit on an eye opener in terms of loss rates etc.

Will keep an eye out to see what plans they have, back to black, earth/green day colours etc.

Firstly, sympathies for what you both went through. I watched my father die two years ago at the age of 67 yrs and 6 months of stomach cancer. 5 days sick leave in 35 years of work at the same company, and he ended up being fed yoghurt direct into his bowel to keep him going. We never discussed this, but to have a choice between that “existance” and a quiet, dignified death is surely a right? I know what I would choose. I watched my Dad, my hero, turn from somebody who had never been ill into a shadow of himself – where is the dignity in that for him?

These look great – I’m no expert at all and will be corrected happily but if there are enough – is there a way to publish them, either in Flypast etc?

Its great for the likes of us to see them (the swastika alone made me jump) but does your friend think about looking to make them available to a publisher – not sure at all how it works, but there could be more rare and valuable (To a reseacher etc not just £’s. for your friend…) snaps there?

it just follows on the general “dumbing down” in entertainment, what they did is a symptom of it, not a cause. Both are crude and pander to the audience. If you can stomach it, watch a Ross chat show and listen to how many people he tells he “Loves” their book, show, movie etc – compare that to Parkinson when he actually debated and discussed.

How long before the Beeb have Ant and Dec doing Panaorama with the X-factor winner as guest reporter…..

as for the Mail whipping up a storm – yes they did, I’m too lazy to be apathetic with regards to politics but I still say that one day 10,000 mail readers will march up the mall. Maybe to get their free DVDs, but they will march !

Nope, you’re certainly not alone there. It winds me up that as far as period hairstyles are concerned, a lot of films, especially those made in the 60’s ad 70’s, fall at the last hurdle. Get the uniforms right, forget the rest!

Glad you reminded me of “Well Meet Again”. As bad as it might have been, I wouldn’t mind seeing it again just to catch a few nostalgic glimpses of West Malling pre urban sprawl. I remember watching the cast bumping up and down the crowdline in a jeep along with Gary Numan at the 1983 Great Warbirds Air Display…in the pouring rain….lovely!

I’m trying to remember just how much flying/West Malling footage there was in that series amongst all the romantic slush? Still my mum liked watching it!

Maybe we could start a new thread about 60’s and 70’s TV drama with an aviation content…didn’t Family at War also have a bit of flying in it?

Only if anybody else remembers “The Aeronauts” – French series about 2 Mirage III pilots?… as a lad I loved it, badly dubbed or not, I bet its poor if you could see it now

I have a vivid memory of seeing Pathfinders one afternoon while being off school sick, old dramas used to recycle before the days of Sky TV.

Wings was OK, Model BE-2’s etc, can’t remember enough about Pathfinders other than as moggy says, lots of old footage.

Squadron sticks on my mind, pulled without finishing the series I think ?

Vol 25 “on the presses” Vol 26 “will be on time”
