In truth I was disappointed. I know Daz will paint his face blue and white, climb that wall and head south with a Claymore when he reads this but I really was. It’s an uneasy mix between a sentimental “Lassy” style farm film with red skies at sentimental moments and some superb battle scenes that don’t shrink at all (without vast amounts of bloodshed it should be said) from the horror and violence as seen on both sides. Add a very contrived plot, a bizarre over cooked sequence on a French farm that just oozes sugar sweet goodness, and all in all, I left feeling totally underwhelmed.

My girlfriend however, is still talking about it this morning and still gets tears in her eyes doing so, she loved it…..

Sorry for the slight thread drift, but I always had a pet theory that the “Rendlesham Forest Incident” was a nuclear accident of some sort, the USAF happy to have people discussing ET while they took away contaminated soil etc.

Actualy the pictures showing the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, J2M Jakes, and the G4M Betty are in British RAF South East Asia command markings, and flying as part of the immediate post WWII Allied Technical Air Intelligence Unit.

I rarely trust websites showing people dressed up in uniforms and toting guns in their own living rooms.

I have images of Bearcats, P-63’s, PBY’s, Spitfires, SBD, SB2C etc, as well as an “Oscar” somewhere all in French markings, but what do I know ? – I’ve not recreated the war in my living room…… 😮
