I don’t think its just related to historic aviation when people behave in these ways, its just “people”.

I used to run a small game of 5 a side football after work on mondays. Nothing fancy, you 5 old fat blokes against us 5 old fat blokes, £4 each, £40 in the kitty, £35 pitch fee, £5 a week into the pot to pay for balls, and weeks when we were short of players. After a while, the e-mails start….

why not buy bibs and shirts?
why were the sides so unfair and uneven ?
why doesn’t BSG wash the kit, my bib was smelly.
why don’t we play 6 a side the pitch is big enough
why does he let so and so play, he is carp

so, I packed it in, asked for volunteers to step up to run it…. no takers.

I used to help coach BSG juniors football team, why do you do that excercise? why not let them play a match? why ? why ?

BSG quit, I quit as he did, any takers to fill my slot on a Saturday morning ? Of course not…

    It’s just “people”.

There are some great examples here, the F-14/”Zero” sequences sprang to my mind instantly, but I think with my age and when I first saw it, the Battle Of Britain has to have many if not all of my favourites, the “he just blew up” line (not strictly flying but after a nice smokey landing) the “northern raid” when the Spitfires take on the Heinkels, but when the soundtrack just takes over and there is a 5 min sequence, it can still give me goosebumps now.

It has always struck me that I wouldn’t want to be sitting with a row of pyrotechnic devices right under my crown jewels….

I suppose they had to be stowed somewhere!

I keep mine, well, the one I had left after the divorce in my boxers, where are yours then or do we not want to know !?!?

Lovely find though, a while back I helped the ex father in law deliver some kit to a large house a few miles outside Basingstoke, in the barn was a Canberra nose section (that ended up with a forum member) and a Trident nose section…. there’s treasure in them there barns… lovely story, thanks for sharing.

a question from another forum where I posted this (http://forums.diecast-aviation.eu/showthread.php?p=436137#post436137)

Is there any support, feedback, or “take up” from the British Legion to the campaign?
