This thread seems to have drifted further than a political party from its manifesto, but thanks to all for the useful and interesting replies.
Thanks again Ross, very helpful information.
Thanks Ross, that’s extremely helpful. Would you mind sending me the contact details of the company you used please?
Shuttleworth tweeted ‘After a cosy night in our hangars the Seafire 3 team have checked over the aircraft and it has now left for home.’ https://t.co/AUrE7WtgnR
I see a reward is now being offered. Let’s hope that it is returned to the family soon……
Thanks for posting that picture Meddle, it seems that my memory is better than I thought! Good to know the full story as well.
I’m sure I’ve seen something, way back when…… I had a decent memory! The mention of an old RAF yearbook does seem to ring a bell though…..
‘Lincoln at War 1944-1966’ by Brian Goulding would be my recommendation.
Thanks Tim. That, in itself is very useful – as one of the things I’m trying to ascertain is its colour scheme; and it is now reasonable to assume that it would have been delivered in a factory finish. So, if I can find its individual code letter (from the accident record, perhaps?) this will enable the guys, at the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, whom I’m trying to help) to produce a reasonably accurate large scale model.I’ll encourage them to do a Martinet next!
Thanks again. Andrew
Probably a bit late to respond now, but this link might still be useful….

Using that, the interpretation of that record seems to be:
FA = Flying Accident (I think we could guess that bit!)
T = Taxying Phase
03 = It hit something for some reason (the compiler didn’t use a detailed code)
I hope this helps
Just bumping this up. I’ve contacted RAFM for movement cards & accident records. Does anyone have any other ideas please?
Does anyone know when she is scheduled to leave Duxford?
Thanks. So glad no-one was hurt and amazed that the aircraft suffered so little damage. A skilled bit of piloting, I think! My main concern, as I didn’t see what happened after it tipped forward, was that it could catch fire. Thank the good Lord that this wasn’t the case.
Good idea Meddle, message sent!
I’ve heard a rumour that PA474 is being refuelled for testing. Does anyone have any news?
