So surrounded by busy main roads with the approach going right over one, can we assume that Farnborough will be affected?
mmitch.
I don’t think anything affects Farnborough , it is a constant irritation when that show bumps RIAT back onto the Legends weekend. Surely I can’t be the only one who likes to attend both Legends and RIAT?
Farnborough can be a nice little earner for BAe Systems etc so it won’t be going anywhere.
Farnborough is probably great if you have corporate tickets or the required inside knowledge to get on the airfield or near enough that you don’t have a huge trek through the admittedly lovely countryside.
The display is nothing sensational and the security checks make RIAT’s look positively amateurish.
In the unlikely event Farnborough was canned, I for one would be happy!
It’s really nice to see one of the lesser known 4th FG P-51’s depicted.
An amazing bio and a life very well lived, the best way you can live it……in the air.
Looking forward to making my way through the rest of the videos.
You have done a fantastic job of documenting Jacks life Roy.
Johnny Johnson must also be aware of the fascist dictatorship currently being installed in this country, ( And I’ll bet it makes him cringe in dis-belief ) which basically is putting 2 fingers up to all our forefathers who served in WW2 and doesn’t seem to care about todays UK Forces either. ( http://www.ukcolumn.org ) People need to wake up—fast !!!! if not for themselves but for their kids and grandkids futures.

Time for your meds I think……

I’m spending a bloody load more than that to fly in a Spit for 20 minutes, there are loads of the population that would regard that as madness I suppose.
What an amazing man, Lord of all pilots ever IMHO.
RIP
That Spring Air Show list whilst good hardly justifies and an advanced ticket policy……….
I wonder if the NMUSAF could provide an empty Pave Penny pod…or barring that I’m sure a talented panel beater (or fiberglass molder) could fashion a look-alike.
Equally important would be an ALQ-121 store. 81st aircraft never flew without one.
ALQ119’s in the early days then the ALQ131
It seems to have been relieved of its Pave Penny pylon too.
There should be a plentiful supply of those around as the current fleet of A-10C’s have had theirs removed the last few years as the PP pod has become surplus to requirements due to new technology.
It is great news .
The current paint scheme is a well worn subject but who in hell carried that out?
Was it a group of children?
Normally gate guards will understandably have gloss finishes for protection against the elements and a painted over canopy but invariably the markings and colours are accurate.
Poor old 219 was the work of a loon, I am taking comfort in the fact that the BCWM carry out first class and sympathetic restorations.
That bitch over, all at the BCWM have worked tirelessly to get this Hog and they can be proud of a job well done.
This will have a knock on effect to the military airshows and maybe even the BBMFs survival, think about it, if a lot of airshows are priced out of existence where are you going to display the BBMF or the Reds? Once a year at Cosford? You then have problems justifying their military budgets as the airshow circuit dries up.
It also all has a knock on effect, without a plethora of airshows to offset the costs of owning and maintaining warbirds, owners will simply not be able to afford the operating costs, and sell off their aircraft, ( something that is already happening with some of the changes maintenance wise that has been foisted on them of late ) this will then in turn lead to a further demise of airshows as the acts are no longer in place to support them. And let’s face it, the likes of Cosford would then be a pretty short show if you took the civilian side out of it, and who would pay to see that.
My thoughts exactly.
The organisers of the airshows that have already cancelled are intimating (by cancelling) that they think these charges are going ahead regardless.
Thornberry fell out with Ed on the run up to the last election after derisory comments about a chap who had a football flag outside his house.
Ed was concerned that it may look to the voting public that Labour don’t care about the underprivileged or working classes after all,so she was moved on.

A world class event with newly intoduced E-ticketing that has resulted in prices that are either close to or less than last year and people are quibbling over a a minor parking fee?
Where else could you get two days entertainment for such a cost?Guy
Good point but i suspect people feel there is a move to push people out of their cars.
If public transport became my only means of transport from SE England to Duxford then i would bid a fond farewell to the shows there.
