‘The combination of both flared and round exhausts goes back to at least the 1950s, when LA255 was the gate Guard at RAF Cardington’
I was commenting on the lack of exhausts full stop ! The picture from Roy9 seems to illustrate it quite well!
The BBMF probably jacked them during the Spits sojourn at Coningsby………
I am not sure if this has been posted. Apologies if so.
However, this is ‘out there’ in the public domain so I’m just posting as a public service for those who do not know:
Duly signed.
The armchair experts on all the forums have come under fire and in many of the cases rightly so.
That said, an individual regularly attending airshows for 20/30 years does gain a sense of what looks right or wrong during a display without having to have a flying background.
Every instance where I witnessed a mishap at a show I detected something wrong very early on and that is without the requisite 3000 hours fast jet time required by the pprune forum before you are allowed to comment.
Disclaimer, I wasn’t at Shoreham so will respectfully keep my opinions to myself and within the confines of my armchair.
Unfortunately the Buchon has had a fairly poor history of incidents in civil hands. The thought of it being used for experience flying is distinctly nerve tingling!
Very true………your pen would definitely be shaking as you sign the disclaimer !
That very airframe was the first warbird I ever sat in. Biggin around November 1988.
No pics I’m afraid, if only camera phones had been been around back then !
That T28 further up the thread needs Botox , great photos as ever.
I agree with Propstrike.
These rides come in many packages , one may give you the chance to fly in formation with the bogus 109, I can’t see the majority wanting to fly next to anything other than a Luftwaffe liveried kite.
I’m no Pigeon fan, but the two seater looks rather good.
Just had a quick five minute taster and I have to say that the Tornado ADV opener was superb……….and that’s from someone who has never cared for the Tonka of either flavour.
I’m saving the rest for some nice bedtime viewing!
Thanks Steve for posting.
Nothing wrong with the original (F-5/’Mig’ apart) it was great entertainment and did wonders for USN recruiting at the time. I wonder if North Korea will be the baddie again? Atleast they have access to proper Migs this time. I just wonder if the USN will play ball with their F/A-18’s? Will be pretty pointless if the USN is not involved.
I’m guessing it will rely on CGI and only using real aircraft for ground scenes.
I don’t mind CGI as long as the flight dynamics are realistic (unlike Red Tails)!
As long as they call it ‘Mosquito to the Sky’ instead of the silly ‘People’s………..’
This is very sad news.
I always remember his posts on UKAR and I loved the way he stuck to his guns on a difficult forum that was and is blighted by one or two awful moderators ( one of whom appears to divide his time between being a publicist for Labour and the Lockheed Martin F35 program!)
Tim’s posts were both informative and entertaining and his books excellent.
RIP
Great news on the Gannet but I hate the ‘Farnborough’ year. It means as a regular FL and RIAT attendee I have no freedom of choice as to what days I attend as both are lumped in the same weekend as SBAC the most inaccessible airshow outside of a war!
I’m really happy about the BHHH being involved with this and have a lot more confidence than I do with the other project ‘The People’s Mosquito ‘
Labelling anything ‘The People’s…………’ irritates the hell out of me and conjures up images of Blair .
The BHHH Mossie will take to the skies, the ‘people’s’ will just be like one of old TB’s empty promises :p
Finally……..the Biggie Mossie will live 20 minutes from me (15 if I drive through the lanes) !
Ah ,we saw the spitfire over our house (east)
Also the reds were out and about, though they’d be tucked away for the winter by now!
The Reds were performing a flypast for the Rugby World Cup Final.
Apart from a bit of leave the Red Arrows fly throughout the Autumn,Winter and Spring to train up the new pilots (two for 2016) and to get the display ready for the new season.
This includes a deployment to Akrotiri in the Spring to take advantage of more settled weather as they put the final touches to the new display routine.
Apart from Red 1 ,the other pilots will be getting used to new positions in the team.
At the same time, the ground crew will be working hard to service the jets as well as trying to provide enough airframes for the training programme.
I’ve seen the take-off. I’m not going to watch the landing. I’d rather see her last in the sky.
*sniff*
Adrian
That’s just as well because the live stream was lost on final approach……
