Just saw this great news on Twitter, this distribution to this cause of HLF money would never have happened during the cancerous New Labour years……..unless Kenley was to be the site of a proposed LGTB hostel :highly_amused:
It would be nice if Airfix did a 1/48 Sea Fury. The Sea Fury is under represented in the kit world.
The F100 would make a nice addition to the BCWM collection, the USAFM needs to look again at its policy.
The BCWM are without an A10 which is like a U2 tribute band being without a ‘Bono’ !
Kidd Hofer was downed by ground fire.
The voiceover is poor, but I’m grateful the BBC have bothered to commission the series.
It had reached the point where you had to rely on cable and satellite channels to see such programmes.
“Neil, who lives in Norfolk, in southeastern England”
That explains all the aborted trips I’ve had to Norfolk over the years……..I’ve been headed in the wrong direction.
A very nice article, I have met Tom on several occasions,he is indeed a national treasure.
Apparently some ‘geo radar’ returns suggest possible Merlin engine?
So many happy memories of watching Brian at Biggin Hill and of reading his display flying articles in the aviation mags.
I very much enjoyed his column in Flyer magazine, in fact it was the only part of the magazine that survived the recycling bin!
I was lucky to get hold of some dog eared copies of his brilliant books too.
My sincere condolences to Brian’s family.
Nice to see a vintage jet in the limelight for the right reasons .
Sorry for the tardiness in putting a pic up, I thought i had to have a Flickr or photo bucket account to do it but then found didn’t .
iPhone pic only though .

The new memorial to the former RAF Units in the foreground with the relocated 4th FG memorial behind and the North/South runway beyond.
Not good reading and totally avoidable.
Hmmmm, aren’t the majority of them.
I was very impressed with the BBMF 6 ship formation, nice and tight and perfect.
I do tire of the occasional stick that they get always it seems from ‘that’ forum.
If anything, the BBMF have actually come on in leaps and bounds in the last 7 or 8 years with the more structured changes of command.
As for the Spitfire balbo and tail chase it was fab-u-lous.
What a way to mark the 75th anniversary.
Sadly I couldn’t attend the unveiling but after getting out of Duxford after the show just before 1900 and spying the gridlock on the M11 I took my back up route home through Saffron Walden and took a detour to the memorial site.
It’s very nicely done and it was very peaceful with just the birds singing when I pulled over to look.
As mentioned it is located at the approach/threshold for the North/south runway which is seen beyond.
A couple of programmes on Radio 2 and a few news snippets on BBC News is a poor showing from the Beeb.
Then the illogical BoB night showing of Bomber Boys as I have already mentioned.
I’d have been happy to watch the McGregors Fighter Boys again instead ( with occasional sound off/subtitles……see earlier post)
Full marks to Channel 4 and Dermot did well.
Apparently they were still editing the second episode 2 minutes before transmission and it did show a little bit, but overall I
appreciated the whole endeavour .
