The left wing equivalent of The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, ran a story about a plot to bring in DM.
Bruce and David you are quite correct about DM’s earning power at the moment but I think the chance to have Labour grovelling to him to return and then putting one over Ed by winning the election will be irresistible.
He is 50 now and after a term as PM he’d be 60 odd, still enough time to return to high earning.
Look at Blair (don’t look at him too long though)!

    I stand corrected Bruce.
The Conservatives need to forget about Corbyn and concentrate on the job in hand and get the country well back in the black. That way, when DM gets in in 2020, we’ll have a couple of years spare before Labour send us back down the s*****r !
I’m not sure where all this Corbyn support has come from all I ever hear is moans about why David Milliband wasn’t brought in as leader.
I’m assuming he has business career aspirations still to fulfil at this time and that JC is merely keeping the seat warm.
    I sincerely hope I’m wrong !
Maybe Tory HQ should put their posters away until 2019/2020 because they would certainly apply to another New Labour threat which is what the David flavour of Milliband would represent.

Like I say, enjoy this while you can because I can see David Milliband being persuaded back before 2020 and he will fool a lot of people in the same way that slime ball Blair did .
I don’t seriously believe those posters would have come from Tory HQ,is anyone seriously worried about someone who looks like a scruffy college lecturer with equally insane ideas?

I’m reading Patrick Bishops excellent ‘Battle of Britain: A Day by Day Chronicle’
And ‘RAF Biggin Hill 1939-1940’ by Richard C Smith
And Andy Saunders Haynes Manual on The Battle of Britain.

I think people may be celebrating a bit prematurely, I seriously do not expect to see JC as Labour leader by the time of the next election in 2020.
I think he will either be ousted or even dead ( remember John Smith? a leader who looked like he may offer something credible compared to the hobo Michael Foot and Welsh cretin Kinnock and his CND supporting wife)

Many Labour voters still harbour dreams of the slimy David Milliband riding to the party’s rescue in the same way Blair conned many voters back in 97.

It’s all about the families these days hence the OTT commentary.

    Most annoying commentators?
Most HM Forces commentators apart from the Red Arrows who generally get the commentators right.
The former are dull, monotonous and with that irritating ‘not quite able to roll my R’s’ delivery.
Not a huge fan of Ben Dunnell either, although I can see how organisers would prefer his safe delivery to something a bit more maverick like Brendan O’Brien.

I’m going to shamelessly hijack this thread to tell Andy his Haynes Battle of Britain Manual is bloody marvellous!
Mine arrived unexpectedly yesterday and I am mightily impressed.
    Anyway,sorry…….back to the thread.

Good outcome, Pilot safe and sound, both Spits will be up and flying next season I am sure.

Now that’s what I call optimism!
    I’d say 2-5 years.
I’d also add LF363 to keefy’s list, that had an incident a few weeks back where it divested itself of most of its oil and the situation was brought swiftly under control and LF is back on duty again.

Despite the fact that it must be hard and expensive keeping current/hours on any vintage aeroplane nowadays, it’s pleasing to see that after the problems with ARC’s buchon , the sea fury T20, BBMF Lanc, Biggin hill’s spit & now this one that all the pilots have handled the situation safely and more importantly walked away.
Our display pilots are clearly very good at what they do .
It’s just a pity others haven’t always been so fortunate.

The key point with those examples was that the crew were very familiar and current on the aircraft in question.
Something that will be coming under the spotlight in the next few months.

When I first saw the photo of the Spit I thought it was pretty standard belly landing damage until I saw the absence of the port wing.
It seems to have fared better than MK912 though.
