Think this was my fifth Legends, and despite the tempestuous weather, and the great disappointment of the Fury and Nimrods scrubbing, it was the best show I’ve been to. Some teriffic flying all round, from an amazing Spitfire opening to the magnificent balbo finale.

Highlights were the gorgeous Seafire, my first encounter with a DB-powered “109”, and the jaw-dropping Blenheim formation.

One slight worry:does anyone know what happened to the Desert Buchon? It was conspicuously absent from the circuit after the Balbo…

I got lucky with Red 7 as I got to see it a month ago at Biggin where it in my opinion was flown even better.
The ‘Few’ have gone up further in my estimation after seeing what they had to contend with with the 109.
At Biggin it took part in a great dogfight scenario with Dan Griffith in the Spitfire.

Massive thanks to everyone involved with Legends 2015 and to the great British and Worldwide airshow goers for supporting it.
And a particular salute to a safe weekend in the bag.

I don’t mind Bernard or Brendan O’Brien who isn’t everyone’s fave either at other shows.
Rather them than the rather anodyne bores that frequent the airshow circuit more and more these days.
Mainly in my crosshairs are the commentators from HM Services, clearly reading from a script their delivery is monotonous and they almost all have that curious affliction where they can’t quite roll their ‘R’ ‘s
I do however exclude Red 10 from this damning indictment, Mike Ling is a first rate commentator for the Reds.

Back to the Legends music, I had no probs with the very thoughtful James Horner tribute and don’t dislike Bolero as a piece of music just that awful ‘multi cultural rework bolleaux’ version they use.

Did anyone find out what happened to the red nose Hawker Fury.
It took off for its display and didn’t return.
On the whole I enjoyed the display a lot.

It didn’t take off, just returned to the flightline and shut down.

As for ‘Arsene Wenger’ talking over the music during Anna’s display.(mentioned in an earlier post) ……..bloody good job! Awful music!

Sad news – a big name from my childhood.

    Sums up my experience.

Ordered mine too ! Anyone failing to get tickets may do well to get to their nearest local former 11 group airfield as certain sections of the formation should overfly them, Kenley maybe a good spot for anyone SE London located?

A great set of photos and fantastic to see ‘Lulubelle’ back in the skies again, PT did his usual polished routine today at the Biggin Hill Festival of Flight.

Thanks for the reply back on that. Wonder if they could get some new panels from the Boneyard?

    Good point!
The separately displayed F111 escape capsule canopy glass has suffered a similar fate.
I think the glass is made up of multiple layers and one of the inner layers has been affected.

What’s happened to the A10’s windshield side panels?

Looks like some sort of degradation of the material maybe due to temperature or humidity?
The canopy would have been sealed shut for well over a decade .
In service the Hogs windshield side panels are slightly darker.

Nice scheme, although they didn’t (yet!) include his little ‘Red Devil’ emblem on port side. And, being pedantic (although it truly doesn’t matter!) it should be A-GN on the statboard side. 🙂

And shouldn’t the fuselage roundels appear in line when viewed from the top?

    Well done the Coalition.
I would tell the benefactors to make the most of these handouts though as the outcome in May isn’t a foregone conclusion.

Second time round watching it and my opinion of the film has gone down.
The scene with the battle damaged P51 with the fuel sloshing round the cockpit was worthy of the spoof/ Naked Gun type movies……..hilarious.
I agree with the earlier poster who compared it to a video game, however I have played games on the PS3 with far better flight dynamics than those portrayed in the fillum.

    A richly deserved AFC .
To my mind, the praise ‘Goaty’ received from ‘Winkle’ Brown is worth more than the medal! now there is a pilot whose opinion I would respect contributing to this thread.
