Beautiful! It was Stephen Grey that ignited my interest in the P-40 family.

Great photos as always, I’m sure those Robinsons were at Lashenden last Monday .

The Hellcat is listed to be at Shoreham at the end of august so if she is going at least we will have most of the summer to see her

Not necessarily, the P-47 ‘Snafu’ was on the list for last years Shoreham and was removed as soon as it was sold.
Hope I’m wrong in this case though.

Purely speculation,it could be an ‘hours’ thing what with the busy period later in the year when the Canadian Lanc visits.
There are some training sorties scheduled with the other Lancaster.

Pretty sure that is Dan Griffiths, saw him display MK912 at Coolings Garden Centre of all places last June, a fantastic display that day.
Apparently Duxford yesterday was his 500th display.

The base looks to have survived even better than Bentwaters.

I am getting to a stage where I feel I do not want any more books, or maybe massively thin out what I have.

Having lugged my father’s ‘library’ through three house moves, shelves and shelves of titles sit unopened for years on end. even my beloved Wrecks and Relics gather dust, since the printed word is no longer my point of reference.

Time and space are needed to enjoy a good book collection, and if both are short, they cease to be the source of pleasure which they once were, and feel more like a burden. A sad reflection, but too much clutter is bad for your mental health.

I fully understand what you are saying there.

You must get hold of ‘Open Cockpit’ by Arthur Gould Lee, probably my favourite book on WWI combat flying with a great insight into pilot training too.

Any idea where this was taken, has an RAF Kenley look about it?

Lots of ‘on their high horse’ armchair expert pomposity on another forum about this , but after seeing the video I couldn’t help thinking how great it is to see a Lightning airborne again.

Aren’t the USAF exhibits on loan to the AAM? I think that is why the F15 is receiving perhaps more attention than some of the other exhibits.
Does anyone know if any of the 48th FW have any input into the F15 ‘spruce up’? I’m sure they were involved in the last paint job.

A piece of good advice, especially when someone dies, is , if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

    A good point.
The EDL, NF etc etc would actually keep their blood pressures at healthier levels if they bit their collective tongues and let the people on social media pay their respects.
By posting the usual predictable diatribe they are actually prolonging the discussion and I suspect their own frustration.
The tribute threads will run their natural course a lot quicker if you keep your views to yourself, it’s an argument you will never win.
