The camera operator has no great future in that role.

    Nasty event.

    You’re not wrong there, dreadful.
Surprised the pilot didn’t cut the engine ASAP after the lan…….er, arrival.
Watching another vid on the Spits first flight in 2010,I was interested to note that H and S hasn’t taken hold in France yet as they ran the engine up with the wheel chocks casually left on the wing to blow aimlessly away in the slipstream.

IIRC he has Swiss nationality though.

I always thought he had a Scottish twang to his voice:confused: and just assumed he lived in Switzerland .

A knighthood? Blimey what have you lot been drinking?

When I first read the thread I thought he’d past on, glad he hasn’t, enjoy your retirement.

It’s a perfectly reasonable suggestion, look at some of the knighthoods freely handed out……….Alex Ferguson?
Maybe a knighthood is a bit ott, but certainly an MBE or an OBE would suffice.

As well as being quite useful at the controls of WWII aircraft, Mr Grey also writes highly enjoyable flying articles in the FL programme.
I’m hoping one day he will write a book:eagerness:

Love Bernard Chabbert, apart from Brendan O’Brien he is about the only commentator on the airshow circuit with any distinctive personality.
The only fault of the spring air show was the 50% of the commentary team that was ‘plain vanilla’ or dull, or a safe pair of hands as the organisers would probably say.
I was brought up with the likes of John Blake and Stratton Richey and lots of banter but also enjoyed the more formal style of the early IAT and Mildenhall commentator (whose name escapes me now but I’ll remember later)!:o

    Excited already!
Where is the ‘Bluenoser’ D model coming from?

As for the ground entertainment, it’s a shame the ‘Three Belles’ from the Dux Spring Airshow aren’t appearing, they look and sound a lot better than the ‘Dolls’ IMHO

    This a great shame.
I took up modelling last year and live between the Croydon and Bromley branches.
Picked up the latest Tamiya Lanc for £79 back in May………..if my crystal ball had been serviceable I would have waited longer……….#tightwad

They are handy for an emergency modelling material (glue/paint/tools) and the odd bargain.
Hope for the sake of the staff something is sorted, the youngest staff will always get something but it is the older staff and the people forced back to work because of poorer than expected pensions I fear for.

The Internet obviously has impacted but I don’t agree with the view that modelling is out of date, next time you are in WHSmith, check out the amount of modelling mags.

Any one know what happened with TFCs Hawk, saw fire engines..? I was on Tank Bank

Not sure what happened there ,saw Dave Southwood walking back.
Mr Grey sr had an interesting landing or two in the P-40, bounced a couple of times ,caught the bounce with a burst of power before wisely chucking the landing away 3 quarters of the way down the runway.
And before the Eagle Sqn/Reds flypast, the Hurri was displaying some recalcitrance by refusing to start, Nick Grey and engineers chipped in with advice to no avail before Steve Hinton shut down ‘ Snafu’, jogged to the Hurri got on the wing and it started after some words of wisdom.
Then it was back to the ‘Jug’ for a restart!
    Steve must have been knackered.

Ed was flying the P-51 for the Reds flypast and according to the commentators the Spitfire during the Eagle Sqn display.

Hoping someone caught them over Bodney, especially as ‘Princess Elizabeth’ was in the formation.
