Sadly ‘Dimsie’ Stones passed away in 2002.

Very true.
The Battle of Britain is still very well commemorated to this day and there are plenty of parents who will introduce their children to this event in our history through airshows etc.
As for the people who know of such events and choose to dismiss them as glorifying war etc ,I don’t care about their opinions anyway.
With kinder weather today the BBMF and BHHH would have been out and about, instead we shall remember with our Battle of Britain DVD’s, books and BoB You tube clips…………and with a pint of Spitfire! Cheers 😎
Sorry but much of the ‘airbrushing out’ of Britains history took place between May 97 and May 2010.
It was the idiot Blair that couldn’t bother his **** to attend the annual BoB service.
The Westminster Abbey service has taken place as usual with the flypast.
Presumably if the data plate is found it will be a case of ‘next stop Sandown-IoW’:p
Nice Kodachrome, dumb PR photos (for the most part).
I’m sure some of the ‘Rosies’ are models, too many of them have lovely manicured hands to have been tinkering with aero engines and using rivet guns long hours!
Very sad news but a life and flying career very well lived.
Speaking of Modelzone, the branches have been picked clean pretty much and no word of a rescue:apologetic:
Lovely vid , when I saw the Spit and Hurri join up I thought the BBMF really do need a Mossie!
#doubleeuromillionsrollover
Fabulous ……….beautifully filmed.
For the last 3 weeks every time I have heard ‘Shine on you crazy diamond’ on Absolute Classic Rock i have thought of Mr Grey in the Bearcat.
I thought they were easier to fly and more forgiving , they are also the first of the fighters of the BBMF that the newly qualified display pilots fly before adding the Spitfires to their flying CV’s.
That gets my vote!
And mine! A nice Mark 1 in 615 Sqn markings;)
TFC P-47 and P-51 Cancelled from Shoreham
It’s still showing as TFC owned on G-INFO, but I’m not sure how quick that updates changes of ownership.
The Shoreham cancellation is ‘interesting’ though.
Every aeroplane is available for a price, Peter Teichman managed to prize the P40 away a few years back.
How it all began!
Duxford Flying Legends Airshow 1993

Thanks very much for posting, the flying was a bit more dynamic and certainly lower back then.
The tail chases now don’t seem as good as the first time i saw one,or maybe it’s a case of over familiarity?
What a fantastic day’s flying. Thought that it was all very well choreographed with no boring lulls in the flying. Only thing that I wasn’t so enamoured with was the French guy’s commentry. He could have sent a glass eye to sleep.
One thing that I’d be interested in is a list of who flew what if there’s one available.
Mike
PS Many thanks to those who have, and are probably about to put pictures of the display up on the site.
Ok, I’ll be honest, after previously coming to the defence of Monsieur Chabbert , he was starting to slightly irritate me yesterday until I thought of some of the alternatives we could have had.
A great show, Stephen Greys penultimate public display caused me to sweat profusely from the tear ducts especially when Pink Floyd came on.
Too many other highlights but a special mention to the Curtiss family and especially ‘Little Jeanne’ who won my ‘Ray Hanna Trophy’ for the lowest altitude flown during the display.
I went on friday, it was utterly brilliant! the best weather at DX and flying (lots of flying) all through the day, and not a peep out of the tannoy, all for £17-
I may do that next year as well as either sat and sun.
Would love to have gone again today, but I though it would be unlikely to get lucky again and get parked under the shade of the trees in the ‘Bailey Bridge’ car park.
Made all the difference for lunch yesterday!
