Having spent the last three days crazily charging between home, Brize Norton, Duxford and down to Retro Track & Air in Gloucester I haven’t seen any of the papers.
Hope they did the story credit!
Very well done Andy.
The papers did the story credit, although the London edition of The Metro did wrongly caption a photograph, and I thought you had aged alarmingly since I last saw you on TV!
Great find, thanks for posting.
During the interview with the British officer who flew as an observer on the mission, it is interesting to make comparisons with the accents.
The Brit accent back then sounds faintly ridiculous whereas the American accent has barely changed over time.

“The Peoples Mosquito”
Tony Blair isnt behind this is he?:diablo:
I look forward to ‘Snafu’ getting airborne and the remainder of the TFC fleet getting back into the sky.
Apart from that, I look forward to when the Olympics are behind us:p

Nice photo tribute to finish up………just missing ‘BBD’
Great news and well deserved.
Nice to see a well earned MBE for a change.
Parky’s display in P7 at Capel le Ferne 2010 will live with me forever.
Mark wrote many articles about aircraft he flew, WW 18 is obviously my fave as he writes about flying the ex Black Knight T-33. After he died I e-mailed S Conner who had recorded lots of interviews with Mark as well as having him talk over in-cockpit cams & release it all on DVD.
I came across the youtube vid of Mark describing his Hunter display, he would have made a superb instructor.
PS…..I’m saving the article to read at the weekend, many thanks for posting it up!
Just seen these, possibly the best Vietnam War photo’s I have ever seen, certainly the best contrast of aircraft and people.
Fairly certain it was Mildenhall Air Fete 97 , I remember Mark referring to the airspace in the area being ok up to FL245.
The prog was ‘The Air Show’ or the ‘ear show’ if you listened to the ghastly accent of the female sports presenter (whose name escapes me) who fronted it, it was otherwise a decent watch and Mark gave the show credibility.
I’m afraid I don’t have a tape of it.
It certainly wasnt taken at the recent ‘Open Day’
Nice memories of what was one of the best airshows on the calendar.
Shame Ray & Mark & OFMC didnt get mentioned.
Steve.
That was the only fault in an otherwise really enjoyable programme……..glad the wartime lovers got together eventually too.
When I read the obituaries of people like Billy Drake, it never ceases to
amaze me, on how much they managed to pack into their lives. It can make us mere mortals feel rather inadequate.
R:I:P
My thoughts exactly.
Very sad news, R.I.P.

Lovely photos, particularly the ones of ‘Janie’ and ‘Marinell’.
It was great to see them both at Shoreham on Sunday, I really must get up to Hardwick before the year is out.
