Really nice Brian, love the angles and close-ups.
Fantastic Website 😀
This Hardwick has never been in the pooleys as it is a private strip and flying is restricted to invite only. Sorry!
Ooops, thanks for that, car it is then!
Very nice pictures guys, I too am glad I gritted my teeth and ignored the forecast, I very nearly didnt go, but I reasoned that when the rains came I could give the hangars a thorough inspection.
It was nice to see one Tucano wearing Brian Kingcome’s old squadron codes, I have Robert Taylors “Tally Ho!” featuring Kingcomes ‘F’ and Wellum’s ‘G’
‘Parky’ looks like he was enjoying himself.
A very nice website, I agree about the “Eastman” feel, but thats no bad thing.
I really like what Hardwick Warbirds are doing to perpetuate the memory of the pilots and aircraft of the Eighth Air Force.
Maybe a supporters club in the future?
I’m looking forward to visiting Hardwick , did hope to fly in but it appears to have gone from the Pooleys:confused:
Very sad new’s, one of the big names and personalities of the ‘Wolfpack’ …..don’t think I ever saw a photo of Bud when he wasnt smiling.
RIP
whilst in danger of dragging this thread wildly off topic here, does anybody know if if Twilight tear is actually coming back to the uk this year?
My dear fellow, you should know by now that asking about ‘Twilight Tear’ or indeed ‘Miss Helen’ is a waste of time;)
Another vote for Trudgian here.
I also have a couple of Ronald Wong prints, he did alot of stuff for squadrons of the USAFE including the well known ‘Dover Patrol’ depicting a couple of F-15E’s off the Dover coast.
Mark Postlethwaite,Robert Taylor and Geoff Nutkins are other favourites.
Wade Meyers has done some fantastic paintings and pencil drawings of the 4th FG aircraft as has Troy White, although the latter’s works can be a bit hit and miss (more hits) in my opinion.
Yes saw the crane lifting them from the south side of the airfield.
They are both being replaced with Mk 1 replicas i believe? The spitfire is going in 92sqn markings the Hurricane i do not know, i’m sure somebody here will tell us more. (32 sqn maybe?)
Looks very strange with out them outside the Chapel.
If the markings are 92 and 32, then a very wise choice they are indeed!
A big thankyou to Maurice Hammond for bringing his two P-51’s along.
Two of the finest Mustangs I have seen, finally getting to see ‘Marinell’ really made my day:cool:
Superb photo’s, thanks for posting them up…….nice to see Brian Kingcome in post 28.
Wow, something worthwhile on ‘Twatter’, good job IWM.
His funeral today, I believe, in his home town of Crowborough.
…….complete with a Spitfire flypast.
I enjoyed it very much and would love to see more, maybe a walkround of some of the other aircraft in the collection in any future DVD’s.
May I also add my best wishes for 2010 to all at The Fighter Collection and of course to my fellow FotFC members.
I too saw the MoS centre spread article.
I’m quite astounded, he must have been quite a dentist!
Absolutely fantastic work.
I’ve treated myself to a copy of ‘Fighting Scouts of the Eighth Airforce’ by E.Richard Atkins and the Airfield Focus Steeple Morden and Raydon editions for the run up to Christmas:D
