Best avoid the TV and papers on Friday then.
Great accompanying video too. Always nice to see a warbird a PPL would have a good chance of being able to fly ( euromillions permitting) because of the tri gear.
Looks like I timed my excellent trip to NW for the ‘Gold Tour’ in January to view the P51D,Fury and Spit to absolute perfection……….
Great photos, many thanks to the contributors.
Has something happened with the NWHA? I was there on January 30th for an excellent tour and all seemed well.
I assume BoB veterans survive in other countries.
If so, the title could easily be misconstrued.
Not a big deal, but clarity is never a bad thing.
Very well put John. I can understand how people could be confused as they scroll down.
I bought an occasional copy of Flypast and finally got a subscription 2 years ago.
I look forward to the last week of the month when the latest copy lands.
There are a wide range of articles including Cold War subjects.
I experimented with a couple of iPad issues but unfortunately I’d actually forget it was on there and didn’t enjoy a magazine on a tablet, I much prefer to have the latest issue lying around to read during a spare moment.
I am also weighing up a subscription to Combat Aircraft because my aviation interests cover pretty much everything from WW1 up to the present day.
As for the dear old Spitfire I can’t get enough of it ! I joined the legions of others who have flown/flown in one last year and my affection for the Spitfire family has grown even more .
That said, it isn’t my favourite aircraft of all time, that accolade goes to a design that first flew 36 years after the Spit and is still flying very effectively today and despite efforts to bin it 😉
Flying Spitfire MJ627 exactly 8 months ago today…….
I guess the Prop Shop have space for it with all the BBMF aircraft going to Biggin Hill for servicing etc…..( Less the Lanc )…all good things come to an end…!
Really?!
Congratulations ‘Disco’
I hope this award doesn’t attract the same flak as that awarded to ‘Goaty’
Sad to see Woodbridge and Debden on the list.
Debden still looks vaguely like it would have done when Blakeslee,Hofer, Gentile etc etc flew from there.
Some of the dates are a way off in some cases, but plenty of free space for any future Labour government to house all the much higher than present totals of refugees they’d agree to.
Get any sort of a Labour government……..especially a musty smelling , coffee and cigarette breath Corbyn one and you won’t have the Red Arrows or BBMF.
Seriously though, if they aren’t able to field a jet I think it will be time to bring the curtain down on the Red Arrows.
I’m sorry to say I never take any notice of the prop teams like Team Horlicks or whatever they are called or any of the rest and use them as a toilet break or browse the stalls opportunity.
The RAF would still need a team but they’d have to give them a new name.
Great report Paul.
I went Friday and enjoyed the display and static.
Not being one to carry an expedition loaded rucksack all day I like to return to the car a couple of times through the day.
Imagine my surprise when at 1620 I wanted to return to the car to charge the phone and have some water when told I wouldn’t be able to re-enter the show ground, despite it being open another 2 hours !
Pretty bad really, plus if you are in the Green car park on a Friday you have to use a shuttle bus back and forth to the start of the static . Fine during the day but mad when a thousand or so people want to return to their cars at the same time !
What is the newly restored Spitfire?, or should I say which is it?
It was originally said to be the BHHH Spitfire V EP122.
Hmmmmmm
It’s container watch time!!!!
Most likely to be one of the horsemen I would imagine – most likely Steve as he is always here. Is young Stevo heritage flight certified? A fantastic young pilot and top lad as well!
No container with a P51 ……..’Miss Helen’ appears to have the HF ‘gig’………..hope she behaves herself at RIAT and Legends.
Lovely shots throughout .
Thanks to Brian for the MJ627 photos, I spent an out of this world 35 minutes in her back in April including some stick time and a nice victory roll over the M20 !
