The Tamiya 1/32 MK XVI includes decals for an NMF Spit from the same unit FD-AA .
I’ve just got one on eBay for £66.

Lovely to see MJ627 , I can’t believe it’s 2 weeks ago already, my flight certificate has pride of place on the wall 😎

Wow! They have done a superb job there.
I first visited several years ago and the exhibits were in the condition you would expect them to be in after being outdoors, but they have scrubbed up nice!
I am looking forward to visiting soon, Peter would be very proud.

It is all very worrying, I just wonder how many future display pilots will be put off by the new regs.
Or will it be a case that warbird pilots of the future will be former BBMF pilots or ex service demo pilots?
I can imagine that if a was a prospective warbird display pilot with a lot of tail wheel hours and a few million quid in my pocket for my first Spitfire I’d be put off entering the industry after reading PT’s Facebook message,

Southern air, I see your location is Herts, you are ideally placed for volunteering opportunities with some key operators.
I am south of the river and for me to volunteer at Dux would require over an hours drive each way , that after full time work which includes Saturday’s and family commitments.
So ,never underestimate the importance of your location.
There are some really good pieces of advice on this thread demonstrating the forum at its very best.

The low back Griffon engined Spitfires really are attractive – more so IMHO than the low back Merlin XVI. I think the lines of the Griffon nose really suit the low back versions.

    I couldn’t agree more.

It is great to see all this love for the MKXVIII Spitfire, I was admiring her beauty in Andy’s photo but was too scared to vocalise it because i thought it was illegal to like any Spitfire past a V ,IX and certainly not a Griffon.
Rather like Genesis fans disregarding anything after Peter Gabriels departure :highly_amused:

I have a very dog eared copy of the Willy Peeters book, and very good it is too.
It features one of the 510th Hogs in detail in a walk round set of photos.
Edit to say I just realised i have the Aeroguide too !
These must have been during your era John?

MT818 was enjoying a rest in the hangar whilst MJ627 was a very busy bee today at Biggin. The BHHH are doing a roaring trade in the ‘Fly in a Spitfire’ flights at present.

I wonder if MT is helping out with the Spitfire passenger flights at BH?

If they can sign up a Mosquito, now THAT would be a headline act !

And it would at least justify the advance ticket policy.
