    Mark,

With all do respect my friend and you are my FRIEND FEMA didn’t screw the pouch on this one the Mayor and Gov did, they told FEMA they were ok and it wasn’t untill the Dikes broke tdid they start crying for help. Who really screwed up was the Gov. he should have ask Mr. Bush to Federlize the LA National guard two days before the Hurr. hit then i think the problem we have now would never had happen and the Death toll would be alot less because it would have alod the Guard to forcable remove folks for their own good.

Also alot of blame has to fall on the Mayor of NO she could have help the whole cause by mandating that everyone be evac out of the Citythe day before.

Not only that, check out the Baslee Demoiselle replica lower down. Big enough for a full size person to fly, light enough to qualify as a microlight……..hmmmm……..

    GASML,

Its not a replica its an original that came from a barn somewhere in Maine I’m not sure the whole history. They are trying to get some insurance for it so they can fly it.

If their is anything you would like me to get more photos of let me know I’m going back up in a few weeks to bring the Moth up for the Winter.

    Ok Folks,

First you folks who live in Europe really have No Clue about the National Guard and how it works. So let me enlighten you all. First the Gov. and only the Gov. of each State can sign off on letting the Guard to be moblized. Thats right folks the Pres. doesn’t control the Guard units only in the time of War and only after a decleration by Congress and before you all point out hey Crazymainer what about Iraq well folks Congress enacted a decleration to call up the Guard.

So lets get back to the Guard that have been called up it takes 48 to 72 hours to moblize them so folks it wouldn’t matter if the Pres. ask the evening for the Guard to be moved in it still would have been 2 to 3 days before they arrived.

Now for the UN and other Countrys who have offered help please tell me beside $$$ which we have plenty of here could they do I can tell you nothing what Country has the type of Ships that are on Station in Carrabien.

As for me sounding uncaring well that a load of BS I can tell you this I and threeother retsraunt have set up collection Jars and this week we are going to be holding a Concert at are local Hall with all the $$$ going to the Red Cross. So as I’ve said before if you don’t know me then don’t judge me just because I’m a NEO-COn uncaring Right Wing *ss accourding to most on this board you have no clue about me.

One other point folks I would like to point out and it seems you all forgot that the day the storm hit the Mayor and Gov. had said that NO had made it thru the mayor even called FEMA director to say things seem to be find it wasn’t till around 11ish at night then the first dikes broke.

Will any of these be made available to foreign air forces or naval air arms?

In a simple word No, because of the whole Iran thing Congress under the Regan Adm. passed a law that excluded certain Weapon system including the F-14 to never be made avaible to Foreign Countrys.

Sorry Crazymainer, as the resident US helicopter fan, I have to point out the Piasecki/Vertol “flying banana” is the H-21 series. The H-25 is the Army designation for the smaller Navy HUP tandem rotor helicopter. They are easy to tell apart, the H-25/HUP has an “un-bent” straight fuselage.

PS: the official nickname for the H-21 is the “Shawnee” in the US Army or “Workhorse” in the USAF.
The HUP/H-25s official nicnames were “Retreiver” for the Navy, and my favorite…”Flying Mule” for the Army.

    JB,

Duh oh well Whirly birds aren’t my thing but what is the Blue Canoe I know it was a US Navy Helo but can’t recall it type.

By the way GASML, did you notice the 4 bladder on the antoinette? on a continental A65 by the looks of it

    Blue Max,

Ye sit is a A65 I think the prop is just for show I think the prop is one of the many hanging on the wall. Its in for a complete rebuild they hope to start it some time next year. They have a back log on some other aircraft including gettting the Curtis engine change and the Nieuport 18 having a Gnome installed.

Its worth the trip along with the aircraft they have a great collection of early Cars/Bikes and Steam Engines.

    Cheers
