OK Guys,
Before this becomes nasty I’m going to ask that we leave the ongoing conflict in the middle East out of this discussion Ann bought up a rather interesting topic and I think we have proven that nothing would have change except the out-come would have been a little longer. now if their isn’t any more question related to the topic then may I request we call it an evening before we have what happen on another thread that went South and alot of people including yours truely got out of hand.
Thanks Crazymainer
Of building this peice of crap he could have design a rather nice Big Round Engine Fighter that some day an Americain Collector by the name of Steve Patterson would come over and Buy. but that doesn’t matter right now because back at SOE are fearless Capt. Slck-Bladder was getting ready to depart to France to pick up are Hero when the phone rang from Headquaters. It seems that headquaters need are Fearless one to do one more job before he went and got are hero. You see Headquaters need to drop a…………

Point taken, but lets tip the scales a little 😉 If Japan could not be held off until Germany was defeated, what would the impact be on Allied Global Grand Strategy? 😉 Anna
Ann,
As I point out in an earleir post their was no way that Japan could have taken Midway and held it more then six months tops. They just didn’t have the raw matirial to out produce the US. Also you have to remember not only were we building struff for us put we were build carriers for the UK, providing one-three of the material for the whole Allied Armys. thats alot of items that came from us. Their was now ay that the Tri-Pact could out-produce us end of story.
So back to your origianal question japan would have not been able to occuby Midway more then Six Months Tops and we would have shifted are attacks towards the Home Island much earlier and would ahve got the Russian involved in China in 44. Also the second front in Europe would have open alot sooner the June of 44. You would have seen the Italians taken out in late 42 then by-passing the German Army with a strike from the Med along with a attack by the Russians in the Balkans this was one of the three plans that was discussed in Casablaca.

Mean while are Hero and his host just notice that Mr Patterson was looking for are Hero to let him know…………………
Right now lets………….
OK Guys and Gals,
First the Japs. didn’t have the ships for more the two or three major operations at any given time so a all out attack and occupation of the Sinapore, PNG, Hong Kong and carry out a attack on Wake, Pearl Harbor would not be in the cards. even if they had waited till 1942.
As for America sitting back not was going to happen in Robert B. Stinnetts book “Day of Deceit” he was able to get from the National Archives a memo from Roosevelt to Churchill assuring him that the US would not let the Pacific go the way of Europe.
Now Ollie I would have to disagree with you on the Russian stuff they din’t have much of a standing Army in the eastern parts of Russia so most of the attacks would be carried out by a lighting style attacks. They would have hit major shipping areas with commando type raids. In a article on the Russian part of the Pacific War Stalin was quote in saying that he would have sent commandos into Japan control areas of China.
Grey Area are you bit off since one of the UK major partners in the Pacific was the US plus we shared are military information, have you ever heard of the Splendid Arrangement in the Pacific.
Also does anyone know who Lt.Commander Arthur McCullum is if not may I suggest you find a copy of Stinnetts book and read his propsed eight actions. After reaading this you will thne know that the US wasn’t going to sit back and allow the Japs. do much in the Pacific.
The bottom line is the Allies would have won the war it would have been about six months longer if that.
Cheers Crazymainer
Now if I pull on this what will it do oh……………
Hi All,
Interesting thread, Now Dave remember the Japs were stop at Coarl Sea which actually was a far worse blown in the long run then they realized. Ann has ask if there would be any differance well no the outcome would be the same. Also in my paper I did I throw in that the Russians would have attack the Home Island in 44 granted it would only be hit and run stuff but their would be anothe to pin down forces for other areas. Plus we would have launch a full all out Air raid on Midway. Three weeks after Midway, Pearl had gather three Squadrons of heavy bombers. The tatick I suggest in my paper is they would come in Low and under any radar that the Japs had installed. Plus by this time we would have had two carriers in the area that could have reck havoc on them plus Adm. Nimitz is quote in saying that he would have sent Battleships on a one way mission to Midway. They would have blown the Japs off the Island.
The Japs. Naval Forces were spread out over the entirer Pacific, also you have to remember they had lost a number of Transport and Tankers prior to Midway and their CAW had taken a beaten over the past six months.
Cheers Crazymainer
Now Ann dear,
Even if we did lose Midway, we would have taken it back less then three months later remember at the time of Midway we had five Carriers about to be sent down the planks, along with this I think we would have shifted are tactics of instead of the South pacific we would have gone after the Japs in the Cental and Northern Pacific.
Remember we had more Subs then they did and could have unleash one or two one way attacks on the Home Island shipping that would have devastated their supply lines for at least six to eight weeks give us time to counter any Midway move. also we were already were bring 17 and 24 to Pearl and had fighters that could go to Midway and back with the Bombers. Midway is only a eight hour flight from Pearl. plus the Japs couldn’t afford to leave any major Capitol Ships in the area do to how shallow Midway Water around the Midway Attolls.
So in the long run we would have done one of two either a counter strike with in three months which during this time we would basically cut there supply lines or we would have turn are attention towards the Home Island Earlier.
Cheers Crazymainer
