This Saturday the Nimrod team will once again be at Elvington to have on last go at resolving the fuel leak on the Stbd engine on the Buccaneer. Failure to complete this task is not even worth thinking about as it will mean the engine will have to come out :eek: and that Ladies & Gentlemen is not an option!!
We are forecast temperatures of a tropical +6 at Yam so why not pop along and say hello
We will be easily identifiable as the ones carrying massive sledgehammers and a pee’d off look in our eyes:p:p
Ooh thinking on Richard, don’t suppose you have a fatigue meter for a Nimrod do you? :D:D:D:D
Hiya,
Richard – Woods-GroupThought I`d better throw some flares…
K, our prices are based on what we feel is the value of the piece –
I am responsible for pricing – beat me up – it`s not an issue, we do sell at those prices, and pieces go to collectors all over the world…..– but –
I`ve only ever had contact with very few on here and I`ve always accomodated on pricing when I`ve been asked to…..just ask, goodness –
All you ever need to do is ask – no real need to consider getting nasty….a little weird that…
One point – we have saved all of this gear from becomming scrap – it will never be scrapped – I would have thought you might have appreciated that little thing, at least…for me, this is all wonderfully engineered and stunningly beautiful gear and I hate to see it go – …especially for pennies – no chance –
so, we will keep on saving as much as we can from being scrapped/pulped/ripped to shreds for pathetic amounts of gold and I will keep valueing it as highly as I do –
little defensive rant over – Richard
In the interests of fair play and balance after my rant before, we would like here to state that we have had dealings with Richard and his company in the past (escape chutes etc) and we have found him very helpful and fair in all dealings.
Any use for the Bruntingthorpe/Elvington groups?
Spey 101
No use for us I’m afraid as the Nimrod uses the Spey 250, maybe the guys with the Buccaneers at Brunty could find a use for it.
As someone above alludes too, the price of kit has shot up especially the Nimrod gear. Speaking generally, ourselves and the other Nimrod users are the only one who could possibly need 80-90% of this kit and we are priced out of the market. As it stand only Brunty and ourselves currently have Nimrods that run and yes we do need spares but £64 for one u/c leg gag or £1,400 for a pilots seat? The wheel nut extractor is £140 which one day we will need no doubt, no one else will, but £140+ P&P?
Yes we understand these people have to make a living however if things were priced more reasonably surely items would sell?
11th & 12th May
Standby for Broadcast, Standby for Broadcast
Over the weekend of the 11th & 12th May Elvington air museum will once again be hosting the very impressive Battle Group North Event where re-enactors, displays and military vehicles by the hundreds take over the entire site. Their website is http://www.battlegroupnorth.co.uk/
This year there is to be an added bonus……………………………………………
LIVE TAXING AIRCRAFT:):):):):)
Yup the big boys and girls are coming out to play:D:D the times and running order are to be confirmed however the initial plan is that on the Saturday the Buccaneer & Nimord XV250, The Maid of Moray will fast taxi and engines will be run at full throttle and on the Sunday the Buccaneer & Victor XL231 Lusty Lindy will grace the runway and make much noise. As well as the taxiing aircraft there will hopefully static engine runs from the DH Devon and the Se5a and POSSIBLY depending on the serviceability the Dakota’s first outing 😉
More info to follow as we get it.
Us Nimrod types will be about on Saturday this weekend at Ice Station Elvington.
Its our annual jump through hoops recertification day 🙁 We try and run as near as professional ship as possible and, as this includes running what is basically, a very elderly expensive (priceless) piece of complex hardware. To this end we as ground crew once a year have to re certify our ground running & ground handling skills past our instructor NimCpl who will beat us with a juniper bush if we get it wrong. 😮
No live ground running I’m afraid but lots of dry drills to take place. So if you fancy a trek into the Arctic wastelands that is Elvington pop in & say hi.
Hopefully so very big & exciting news for both ourselves & Lindy will appear here soon;)
Next Thunder runs are planned for Sunday 7th April, most aircraft are playing so why not come along, go on you know you want to :cool::cool:
I think there was only XV499 left at Leeming that the Yorkshire Air Museum had been campaigning to get hold of for many years! The only other example I can think of would be a former Leuchars machine.
It beggars belief that Dumfries and Galloway museum and YAM tried for years to both try and save examples for preservation to no avail and now it seems DS&E are working to a completely different scheme.
I have now had it confirmed that it was the Leeming F4 and that going to be a gate Guard somewhere down south, Not sure where but not a current military establishment :(:(
So where then?
Just passed an F4 on a low loader heading south on the A1 at Harrogate. Looked like one of the Leeming ones but don’t quote me etc.
Good drills with the pyros Blue :diablo:
The Nimdet team are also doing Movember but with dare I say it a tad more grey hair 😮 Will try and get a photo before the grand shave off at Nimdet HQ next Friday
See you on the 8th mate for some Buccaneertastic type fun
Final Nimdet 2012
My Lords, Ladies, Gentlemen, Victor bods and even the Aircrew of this parish.
This weekend we bring you the Nimrod XV250 winter prep engineering weekend. We will all be in attendance all weekend (although there is the ever so slightly possibility that we might be a tad ‘shabby’ on Sunday morning due to Hobgoblin consumption)
Lots of engineering going on, a bit of aircraft chess on Sunday as the wee ‘puddle jumper’ aircraft get put to bed for winter, and loads of opportunities to talk all things Maritime, Nimrod and aviation in general.
So if you have nowt to do and want an aircraft fix come and join us and say hello
This weekend the Nimrod groundcrew (well most of us) from XV250 at Elvington will be deploying to ………………………Coventry, to assist the good folk down there with Nimrod XV232.
We will be at the jet on Saturday & Sunday. IF she passes our inspection criteria we will be carrying out full engine ground runs at around 11:00 on the Sunday 😎 Please feel free to come and say hello if your about the local area
Nimrod Mate, do you have some information that you cant share with us at this stage re the nimrod?
Sorry for the late reply, I have just seen this. In a word Yes!!!
This weekend folks as part of the De Havilland weekend at Elvington for the first time public access and conducted tours of the interior of XV250. 😎
This will happen on both days at Certain times and only for a small donation towards her upkeep.
You will have to be careful where you are walking though as the Devon will also be taxiing about the site.
Tony’s Mosquito will also be out in the Sunshine
Nimrod ’32’ is in the same boat as the Shack with regards to Coventry. all will become clear in a week or 2.
