The Nimrod is going nowhere especially Cornwall trust me 😉
Hello folks. Whilst perusing the 28 Days later Urban Explorer forum (yes them again 😎 ) I came across a report on Wessex HC2 XR528. Photo’s 4 & 9 show the mounting bracket holding what appears to be a radio (After my time on the mighty Wessex) Cockpit appears very complete.
Hope the info is what you require.
Linky thing
If the weather plays ball, it’ll be a weekend of rubbing down the Victor for her repaint…
Thats you stuffed then!!! The Naafi it is 😀
Unless the Nimrod lads have retrofitted some more powerful engines it’s not going to be much of a competition…;):diablo:
Wait and see old chap :cool:
Morale at its best :D:D:D
Guys.
I imagine no offence was ever intended with the press release.
I suspect that the release was written by someone who was not aware of the condition it arrived and is not actually and ‘aircraft’ person.
To the uninitiated the arrival of a fuselage with no wings, engines and various other components attached and pallets full of items might look like a major undertaking etc. Also the guys have spent a LOT of hours and effort in getting her this far. Why don’t you come up on Sunday and see the workmanship for yourselves and chat to the guys (& Gals) who were involved?
I know that YAM have been very grateful for all the close support they have received from the Devon’s previous owners.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Just a wee bump in case anyone Tup Norf is at a loose end today and fancies some fresh air?
Well fresh air mixed with burnt aviation fuel that is :diablo::diablo::diablo::diablo:

Right folks about this coming Sunday at YAM.
I preparation for the upcoming on site Thunder day on the 1st April The guys at Elvington are hoping to be ground running several aircraft this Sunday. Included in this list is
First run of the restored Devon 🙂
First run of the restored Se5a;)
The Buccaneer. :diablo:
Now I must state that none of the above are definitely down to run, its all down to serviceability etc however the guys are working incredibly hard to ensure these aircraft are ready and we are hopeful that all will run but there are no guarantees ok?
Be a good day if it happens though 😎 Nimrod & Victor Groundcrew will be mooching about trading verbal insults as usual :D:D
Go on, you know it makes sense:p

Next Anti Det runs planned for Elvington

Be there or be somewhere a lot warmer :p
BIG BUMP 😎
This coming Sunday at Yam the Nimrod team will be carrying out Anti det runs at Approx 13:15hrs.
Hopefully the arl trout from across the pan will also be making some noise of some discription :p
Seriously we are hoping the Lindy will be making noise one way or another, Its not the same when she sits quietly watching proceedings
If you Nimrod boys want for the home to match your passion. Have you seen these links posted on Pprune? 😉

Hi mmitch. Yup we have seen this (and the galley) they appear to be MR4A kit. Cannot believe the prices, £2,000 for an aircraft cr;);)per is a bit steep. We are trying to collect spare parts as we go along and we realise that these guys have to make a living however we cannot afford the items on a certain ‘internet auction site’ and to be honest who else wants a Hydraulic tank or a servo for a defunct Nimrod??
This is great news, the kipper fleet grows :D:D:D
Gnome 10101 was fitted to Whirlwinds, 11101 & 11201 were fitted to Wessex if my memory serves me right.
( RAF mk2’s had black ones IIRC and different computers).
.
Sorry but the Mk2 Wessex on 72Sqn had blue computers etc not black ones. If I can remember my image hosting ID I will put the photo’s up
Forgive me but was it not the 1200 that was fitted to the premier vertical airborne pursuit ship?
I have some photo’s whilst we were carrying out an engine change on 72, I will scan them but I am sure they will not be in enough detail, however I think my course notes are in the garage. Can you send me some more details please?
