Nice work Blue 2. Obviously your time being laid up with the ‘Lurgy, man for the use of’ has not been wasted :p
On the Nimrod front very little to report at the moment, desperately trying to stave off the Frostbite on Kim whilst planning ahead some exciting events for this year is about the sum of our work at the moment, lots of background work involving paperwork and setting systems in place is not really exciting.
We do however have one very good and pleasing news to report.
Approximately 9 months ago Baldrick & Nimchick decided to try a ‘grow your own groundcrew experiment’ prior to Baldrick’s departure to THAT island in the very far south. Nimchick was designated OC Genetic Engineering and the ‘project’ was designated Nimlet. Last week all the hard work came to fruition when Nimchick gave birth to a beautiful girl both Mum & Baby are doing well (Baldrick’s hangover is also progressing well ๐ )
Our Congratulations to the three of them, we are so very proud of you and hope you all have so many wonderful times together ๐
Oh and the little girls name?………………………………….Kimberly, what else? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Give me a few weeks to see what I can come up with mate, no promises however XV230 lies deep in the soul of all Nimrod People so I will see what i can find

A couple of folks have asked what an Anti Det run is so……
There are 2 types we do at Elvington, the normal monthly runs and the 2-3 times a year chuck the jet down the runway type.
Firstly the monthly runs. As it says on the tin an Anti Det(eriation) run is a opportunity to run the engines at around about 70% (We are limited by space and other A/C behind us) to ensure that the aircraft systems are functioning properly such as the hydraulics, electrical and power plant systems are not starting to degrade, and that the oil and fuel seals are well lubricated and that we are not getting water ingress into what is now a delicate old lady. These runs are carried out by the groundcrew and once every 3 months by the aircrew.
The full power & taxi runs are carried out by serving or ex RAF aircrew with millions of hours in the galley, oops sorry I meant the cockpit. These guys do the runs to ensure there are, err no problems during the fast taxi etc  These runs ensure the engines can be run at full power and systems like the brakes, reverse thrust and Undercarriage get a good work out.
So there you have it. Takes a lot of work especially behind the scenes for the museum volunteers to get it all in place, but itโs well worth it. Dates of runs will be published in the usual places.
Just to clarify things. Most of the above concerns the Victor as well, apart from the fact that they have a wazzing great brake ‘chute’ to operate ๐ฎ most of the systems on Lindy need a regular run through as well if not more so as she is a more elderly lady.
Bottom line, the more noise and fumes from these hemp coloured jets the better and thats what we want to provide. :p

Happy New Year to one & all from all of the Nimrod team at Elvington. Our first anti det runs of the year will take place next Sunday 8th Jan at around 13:00hrs. Time for some jet noise me thinks
Saw the video’s of Kim on facebook. Looks good!
What happened to the Victor? Hopes were high the other side of the weekend that Lindy was going to be running too, and she seemed in rude health the other week..
๐
Alas the insurance never came through so they could not run. It was still being chased on Friday but alas to no avail, everyone was desperate as we all like to see all of the jets perform especially Lindy. We were especially gutted for the Lindy lads after all the hard work they have put in this year.
Fingers crossed for next year and the return of “our jet was louder than your jet” conversations :diablo:
Looked good from where I was standing ๐
I realy should invest in a video camera ๐
Mine froze as the jet taxi’ed forward, opened the cassette hatch to see what the problem was and a load of water poured out ๐ฎ
Dear santa
Well what can I say, the weather stitched us like a kipper again.:o Proper Kinloss weather for the taxi runs. I will put up a full report tomorrow and a vid of the runs if i can work out the technical aspects of loading etc. Video’s are currently on facebook on the XV250 page, make sure your speakers are well turned up. :diablo:
However a massive thanks to all who turned out today, hope you got some good shots of the loudest, smokeyest and most awesome method of runway drying in the business still :D:D:D:D We really do appreciate the efforts you make to come and see us.
Thanks to the aircrew who done such a grand job, the Victor guys who despite the bitter disappointment of not being able to run joined us to make it all run safely and smoothly, the museum volunteers who got stuck in with the fence removal etc and finally the rest of Nimdet, you know who you are, the finest bunch of bedraggled, sodden, frozen happy band of aviation enthusiasts I have the pleasure to meet.
Right, I am off to thaw out. I was a brill day :D:D:D:D
And on the subject of taxi runs
My Lords, Ladies, Gentleman and Aircrew of this parish.
I can now officially confirm that the insurance company have come through and that the Nimrod live engine and TAXI runs will take place on Sunday 11th December at 13:00 hrs:D:D:D
You are all welcome to attend and see Kimberley run at full power.
Hopefully the Victor will also partaking ๐ The powers that be are negotiating with said insurance company to try and make it happen.
Cough cough bump :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
The now tamed 2 winged master race will also be on hand afterwards to answer any “so how do you fly the Nimrod” type questions you may have. The jet will also be brought straight back in so you can get close up and personal with her as well. (sorry but still can’t allow anyone on board yet, but watch this space ๐ )
Do you have a rough idea of what time the Nimrod and hopefully the Victor will be running at?
13:00 hrs engine start :diablo:
Bump
