I agree, some people who don’t understand will let off steam – and thats not right.
For now, I’m just hoping everyone will be OK out there.
My family are due to fly back from Florida today; I suspect their flights will be cancelled and they’ll have to sit out the hurricane. Fingers crossed they’ll be OK. 😮
Another great, well balanced debate on the thread subject. 😉
Pembo, I’m all up for a reasoned debate. Perhaps I should be clearer…. I don’t want people to simply start swinging opinionated fiction about. We all know this forum has a Pro-Airbus element to it with a load of very opinionated (and some uninformed) fans willing to defend airbus with whatever means.
Excellent. Do you have anymore information for us then Sandy so that we can debate the points fully?
No we don’t. To make an informed judgement, you need the full story from both sides; I have yet to see (and I’m not likely to see) proper documentation from both sides regarding this discussion; all we have is extracts here and there.
I’m sure both sides have very valid points; and if your quote is the whole story and there is nothing more to it, then I would conclude Airbus have an unfair advantage. As I’ve said though, I would doubt very much this is the whole story.
I won’t start an AvB war as you suggest (there is nothing I hate more) but your thread title states “The lowdown on the subsidies war between A and B”. That in itself suggests a reasoned debate; at the moment all I see is an extract from one side of the story.
I don’t believe anyone can give you a serious reply to this Sandy because quite simply there isn’t enough information.
If the facts are as stated, and there is nothing else to report, then you can understand Boeing’s frustration and everything should be done to bring back fair play across the market.
However, I would suggest these aren’t the total facts and in reality there is a lot more to this story both from Boeing’s and Airbus’ point of view.
A bit of healthy competition; I like it. 🙂
As for the comments made by the Airbus CEO previously; its all marketing hype and no-one should believe, or take seriously, those type of comments. It may be BS, but all companies do it.
Look forward to seeing the A350 fly.
A swap seems feasible, as does AB operating on behalf of Britannia UK. I also think its ‘possible’ that Thomson could sub-charter to a completely different airline, like MYT does with Spanair at Teesside.
As for Thomsonfly; I can’t see them getting 800s just yet; I’d expect more 500s or maybe some 300s but you never know. 🙂
Posting on internet forums is frought with difficulties.
The written word is so easy to get upset about when the spoken word is far less agressive. People also hide behind the protection of their PCs; very easy to criticise when you don’t know your opponent and you’re not face to face with them.
I urge calm and common sense here. I was a seasoned moderator then administrator for a long time on another site and know just how difficult a job it is to please everyone; the fact is you’re can’t. When everyone realises that and starts respecting the moderators rules; all will be well.
I for one get frustrated when A v B wars start, when E v G wars start. Its very annoying, particularly when the threads weren’t created for that purpose. The only way a smooth forum can be ran is if rules are put in place, and that they are enforced. For this reason, I back Ren on his cause here and I’d urge SS and G to take heed, stop battling and enjoy the forum we have here, within the rules set by the mods/WM.
Its not easy; I’ve lost my rag before (on this subject) and I should know better.
If we all stick to the rules, respect each other’s posts, then I’m sure Ren will not need to post anything like this again.
Excellent, thanks guys. 🙂
I’m almost certain KLM took the seat maps off their website. 🙁
Excellent photos SM; thanks for sharing ’em. 🙂
Ant and Dec are great! 🙂
BTW, I was at Newcastle some weeks ago and the chaos there was awful; the terminal really was a dismal place. I’m off there again (5 weeks today) so I can’t wait to see what the improvments look like. Ceiling to floor glass I here giving decent runway viewing…..must make sure I get there nice and early! 🙂
As you say Sandy I think this is mentioned in the September Airliner World – to be honest no more information is added other than what you’ve given.
Essentially, very early stages but discussions are under way. 🙂
God, you have to feel for those people. Particularly those who were travelling for just a week. Wonder if it was a 757 or an Airbus.
