Great report – thanks.
I love Air 2000, the best charter airline in the UK IMO. I was surprised you went on an A320, I would have thought the A320s would have been used at smaller airports with only 757s from Man.
Thanks for the report Dean. 🙂
Exactly Frank; a means to an end….
I guess what I’m trying to say is irrational fear/nervousness is but a small factor; the actual experience of flying I’m starting to find tiresome, unpleasant and a means from getting from A to B! 😮
That is awful news TWA – something I didn’t know.
As for me; well I’m not scared of flying and I know the statistics well enough to know that it is unlikely that anything is going to happen to me.
I think its bigger than that….
It isn’t comfortable or pleasant being sat in a cramped space for 5 hours. It isn’t pleasant trying to get to sleep on a night flight but never to avail. The food is at best, edible so the excitement at the trolley coming down the aisle has gone (I always used to look forward to that).
Then add the odd bad flight in; no matter what stats tell you; if at 3am in the pitch black you’re being tossed out of your seat on a 767, desparately clinging on as the plane angles continuously at 45 degrees whilst appearing to drop every few seconds, then you can’t help get a little nervous. The flight I refer to was EWR-AMS in November; we all experience bumps and drops now and again, often lengthy and with the requirement for seat belts, but never have I experienced so violently and for 2 hours constantly to where I was ready to throw up!
I just worry that I’m losing the ability to even enjoy any flight, even a smooth one.
Whats wrong with me? Am I a freak or something?
My trip report has now been posted in the new forum. 🙂
I think ‘most’ are on the A319.
I read earlier that this summer would see a mix of A319/A320 and F100 operations. All those that I have seen of late though have been A319 aircraft.
Well, I’m back.
I’ll post a full report later.
As expected, both my flights were delayed; 30 minutes outbound, 3 hours inbound. There is seriously something wrong with the schedule as this flight is delayed every week!
Helios on the whole were OK; nothing spectacular.
More to follow….
I was there with work Mark so didn’t get much chance to see things. To be honest I found it very run down and Douglas is a typical U.K. sea-side town. I found Douglas to be a cross between Scarborough and Blackpool; probably from around 20 years ago.
Some pretty countryside, but not my favourite place. 🙂
Heh, no worries LBA. The Sunrise Beach is lovely; perfect for strolling straight onto the beach and into the sea from the hotel pool. All of Protaras is cool though; I don’t know of any poor hotels/apartments. 🙂
Thanks for the Piccy FP; I do love that Helios colour scheme. 🙂
Then I will draft one up just for you mate….
Sunrise Beach, Protaras. 😎
lol LBA! 😀
I’m in Protaras; been there before and love it.
As for the Eastern flight; it was that short I didn’t think it worth doing. We did have an aborted take off on the return leg though. 😮
Mine is relatively straight forward too.
My surname is Pemberton, so Pembo has always been by nickname. 330 clearly refers to the best modern airliner flying today… :p
lol, well Middleton St George and MME both start with an M!
Thanks Preston. 🙂
Sounds like good news to me. 🙂
