Can anyone outline what exactly Easyjet’s future fleet plans are?
Are they still going to acquire new 737s? If so, that does seem strange given the A320 family is so similar.
The current crop of MYT 767s have quite a bad reputation I think for going tech. It will certainly be interesting if more of them come along.
Another sad day. Thanks for the confirmation Softlad.
Will the 10-30 just be kept as a stand-by aircraft then Softlad in your opinion? I can’t see it being scheduled to run specific flights if there is only one of them?
Also, is it true that the 10-30 still does the odd transatlantic run, if so which?
Have a good trip and look forward to reading your report!:)
You know what Ren, its the thought of them being old and tatty that would make going on them ‘different’. Of course, I’d want it to be safe, but tatty for once, I wouldn’t mind – because I’d be expecting that.
I still think the best route would for me to get on Northwest flight through Amsterdam. But its risky doing that as I’ve just found out, and Northwest will probably fly them for a few years yet. On the downside, the KLM MD11s will be going soon when the 777 and A330s arrive.
Wouldn’t it be great if a new charter set up using old planes? Like when Sabre brought us the 727 again.
Melting tarmac maybe?
Remember the BA777 that got stuck in tarmac in the Caribbean?
There are also the issues of longer take off rolls on hot days, which if some aircraft are operating at capacity, they may need to take off with reduced fuel and stop off somewhere. This used to happy a fair bit with the BY738s at LBA.
Is it a spare then, or is it being used daily.
To be honest, it was the best BY757 I’ve flown on (though I admit it was back in ’97). I wonder how BY decided this was the aircraft that was going to Air Holland as opposed to any other one.
Are you referring to G-BYAR?
This used to be a BY aircraft anyway I think as I flew on it from LBA to LPA in ’97. Never did figure out why it left the fleet in the first place.
Thats worrying – thanks wys. 🙂
Just thinking out loud, isn’t this the second Skyservice incident in as many months in Wales as I’m sure one of them had a tail-scrape there, meaning Mytravel had to bring in another Skyservice A320 for cover.
Yeah, Astreus has surprised me too – good news for them though.
Has this story been confirmed yet, as I still haven’t seen anything official (or discussed in other forums) saying the 757 programme is definitely closing.
Of course, I’ve heard speculation, but nothing to say (other than here) that its definitely happening.
Welcome to the mad house! 🙂
I agree.
Britannia are one of the best charter airlines IMO, though their staff and to some extent my experience on some rather tatty 757s make me believe that Air 2000 are actually ‘the’ best.
And your statistics LBA show that Air 2000 couldn’t really get much closer to BY in terms of punctuality.
As for Monarch and Mytravel, its no surprise to see these two near the bottom – I have never had a flight with these two companies that hasn’t been delayed.
Love the winglets on the 738!
I hate the 737 design now because it just looks so dated, but add winglets and I really do think it makes them look ‘sexy’ – if thats possible.
I just wish all NGs had winglets, then I’d have a better chance at distinguishing between NGs and 3/4/5 srs.
Regional – Flybe
Flag – Virgin
Charter – Air 2000
Low Cost – Easyjet
