I flew a 146-200 out of Belfast in February, having flown a CRJ into Northern Ireland.
Nothing to report really; I always find the 146/Avro experience unique. Its unusual looking out of the window and a) seeing wings above you, AND, jet engines.
The service was nothing flash, but, equally nothing bad either…pretty standard.
As for spotting, from my short time at City Airport, activity was very minimal. The only thing I saw was 146s, a CRJ and a BMI A321 from Heathrow.
I won’t know it until next Tuesday now Preston, when they pop up on Ceefax again.:(
Cheers Preston!
I appreciate that. 🙂
Sure the 738s would be cramped, but, like Preston says, the charter configurations are tight and people are willing to go that route.
If the price is right, people will pay it, I’m certain.
I’d love to see them give it a go, it would really give BA/VS and the American’s a run for their money!
I say go for it Ryanair because if you don’t, someone else eventually will.
Oh, and, do it from Teesside. 😀
B*llcks – can’t remember now and I’m at work.
Probably won’t know now until next week when they appear on Ceefax again.
I’m sure one is BY534B??
Very good 🙂
That is a great price – can’t believe that!
Would love to fly on a classic 747, an EAL one would be great!
Hi,
NCL is the largest airport in the NE.
Its scheduled services include the following destinations:
Belfast City (BE)
Isle of Man (BE)
Heathrow (BA)
Gatwick (BA)
Southampton, Bristol, Aberdeen, Birmingham (T3 & BA)
Dusseldorf (LH)
Paris CDG (BE/AF)
Dublin (BA & FR)
Alicante, Stansted, Belfast Int, Barcelona (EZY)
Amsterdam (KL)
Stavanger
All of the above use standard turbo-props and narrow body jets.
Two Britannia aircraft are based there in the summer (one a 763), two My Travel aircraft (both airbus I think), one TCX 757.
Excel and Air Scandic also have regular services out of NCL as do Air 2000. The usual array of visitors also arrive weekly; the TCX A330 from Florida, the TSC flight from Toronto, Helios, Futura, Iberworld, Spanair, Air Europa, Hola etc etc.. doing the usual runs.
Great viewing too (except for the fence). A dedicated viewing area is next to the cafe in the main concourse.
Looks like I’ve set a trend…
Some great trips here folks – I’m enjoying reading them!
The front of the Thomas Cook brochure explains this perfectly.
They offer three types of holiday:
Economy/Standard/Extra
For economy – meals are extra and have a 15K luggage limit
For standard – meals are included and have a 20K luggage limit.
For Extra – meals are included, the luggae limit is £25K and pre-bookable seats are also included.
Basically, the holiday companies are trying to offer more choice and are stripping back the cost of most things in order to make holidays look more attractive. What used to be standard, quite often, now comes at an additional charge.
Well done Preston!
You’re one of the most knowledgable people on here who I enjoy conversing with. Its great to chat and question someone who knows his stuff about one of my local airports. Maybe, one day we’ll just overtake you though at MME! :p
Congrats again mate.
Excellent piccy softlad.
Just to add, Pembo330 😀 appreciates a good A330 pic too!
I’ve learnt something there too…didn’t know Skyservice had A330 leant out to MYT over the winter months.
Any thoughts why MYT would re-register an A330?
I personally would say thats enough time. If there is a delay, BA will probably put you on the next flight anyway.
As much as I love being at airports, after just coming off a red-eye there is nothing worse than hanging around for several hours for a connection, so I think your timings are perfect.
This is a nightmare – sorry to hear about it Kabir.
The way I understand it most airlines now want your credit/debit card details before they’ll issue you with tickets. The cash isn’t usually taken until the tickets are issued though.
I have had to pay NWA for my flight tickets to New York and I’m not going until November!
The only I think around this at the moment is to use a travel agent, or, ask for the tickets to be ticketed as late as possible, though they will still ask for your details.
