Hi LBA Rules – welcome to the forum.
The Britannia 738s went to Britannia AB; their Nordic equivalent. 752s came this way in exchange. I recall the 738 having the odd problem at LBA during hot days with full fuel, but, I agree its ashame they have gone.
Cheers Preston 🙂
Can any of the big widebodies take off with full fuel load Preston?
Is this another difference then….the triangle between the tail and the main body?
Its more integral and curved on the 717…..
Anyone got an F-100 for comparison?
Thanks Hand_87! 🙂
Are the 50’s still operating into the U.K.? I know ours has gone and been replaced by an F100. Do any F70’s to AMS – UK runs?
Preston,
Whats the full story behind the overshot Tristar? I remember something vaguely in the 80’s – were any official reasons etc. given for the accident?
I remember at the time thinking that a Tristar seemed too big for LBA. Whats the full story?
Tenerife?
I’m sure it was a BMI A321.
What about the B717 as a replacement?
The A335 would be perfect (discussed in another thread) but if there is no demand – then there is no need for a replacement I’m afraid.
I certainly don’t think there is a need for a brand new model to replace to the A300/A310 – new variants of the A330 and A340 would suffice.
From an airline point of view, I think the B753, B762 and A332 would be the nearest direct replacements.
I’ve notced AEU have had about three flights so far into LBA this week Preston – what are they?
Our summer season has also started:
Iberworld – Lanzarote
Air Azores – Faro
My Travel – Lanzarote & Malaga
This in addition to the usual KL/FR/T3 and BD runs.
Great to see some activity at last.
Sure, Modern Commercial Aircraft – 2001 edition.
I am always apprehensive coming into Heathrow, because I can see so many aircraft around me.
Never been scared at Leeds though I always find the Eastern approach into Newcastle very bumpy as it usually includes a final turn over the North Sea – you feel you can almost touch the water!
It would be a great replacement for the A310. Also I think there is too big a gap between the A321 and A332, which the A335 would fill nicely.
Its a shame – but I guess its something that can be resurrected.
